Influence buying settlements forbidden, what to do?
Hi, i am doing galactic empire planets. Often the planets have unusual traits, such as the previous would i did which banned colonizer units.

Now this new one i started has banned influence buying settlements.

My question is, what would be the negative effects of taking settlements by force?

I think it lowers the race happiness of that race which can lower morale of racial units under your command. Also i guess it gives evil alignment points.

May of course still be worth it.

Note that there is a workaround: If the colony has more than one stack of units guarding it, you can attack the extra units rather than directly interacting with the colony. The interaction to buy/conquer the settlement is attached to the central guard stack; once that's gone, walking onto the now-defenceless colony skips straight to whether you want your 'peacefully' acquired settlement to turn into a colony right there or pack up into a coloniser.

You technically never stormed the settlement, merely attacked an unrelated marauder... which happened to result in the slaughter of all the settlement's guards. Very sad, but not to worry, you're here to protect them now :)

Nice, but i noticed claimable settlements do not create extra units so far?

Anyway, this same game, i just had a big invasion from Assembly forces... not usually a big deal but these guys were unstoppable! Just overrun and annihilate whatever i got in minutes... until that is, i figured out to use auto calc - that stopped them cold! Its just a shame i could not enjoy the battle myself,,, a shame.

They don't *make* units, no. There might be some worldgen options that make them start with extras, or if you can bait a marauder stack next to them, and there's at least one mod nation (Colonial Guard) that had extra units.

The game actually plays out the battles when you auto them. You can even watch the replay. If the AI wins battles that you couldn't win manually, you might learn a thing or two by watching the replay.
