Empire Mode vs Campaign
Hi!

Is it only me or Campaign is...waaaay more difficult then empire mode?

I played Campaign on highest difficulty (there're 3 difficulty levels)

and Empire Mode on highest difficulty (there're 5 difficulty levels).

I feel like campaign is much more intense and harder. I feel like in campaign AI starts with more units (like in Shakarn 2nd campaign) or Oathbound 1st campaign.

And in Empire mode...seems everybody starts with the same army composition etc. (I'm at 5th planet now).

In summary...campaign seems a bit too hard but empire mode seems a bit too easy :D

Cheers!

The DLC campaigns are harder than the main campaign.
Play the Vanguard, Kir'Ko and Dvar missions first if you are looking for something easier.

That said, the DLC campaigns have better writing and story...

Im not looking for something easier :)

I did all campaigns on hardest mode, it was fun but sometimes frustrating(so far I find Oathbound 1st mission the hardest in entire Planetfall) :)

It was more an opening to discussion how to balance it :) What was frustrating in campaign, was an advantage from start of an AI.

Empire mode has weird difficulty curve. It starts as random map, then becomes harder every time during 5-6 planets and then gets easier with every planet because you start with high level leader and get tier 3 mods during first turns. I switched back to random maps, they can be perfect with provided amount of customization.

What makes the campaigns so hard and frustrating is that the AI is scripted to be a ♥♥♥♥ and stuff/locations you need to visit keep spawning randomly at inconvenient locations and events drain your heros movement.
Take the Es'Teq campaign for example, the essence pool and the crash sites only spawn two sectors away from your capital, but in opposite directions and three times I got mountain sectors or ruins and rivers in between, so it took forever to get to both and both require an army...

Yeah, I noticed that as well. It's very easy to stay on everyone's good side and the AI will never update it's mods. And when it does have mods, they suck. It helps to play with a lot of AI players, they'll fight each other, kill each others stacks and rebuild their armies with a higher tier template. And it's more likely that some of them will despise you. Has anyone ever seen the AI in empire mode go for a doomsday victory? Or any victory for that matter? It seems content to simply exist...

In my last game in empire mode a Shakarn AI started to build doomsday weapon (got 1st level).

But I was quicker :)

Anyway...in empire mode I would like to see specific victory conditions turned off. Like doomsday or having xx% of sectors.

In last game I won with doomsday and didnt even met all AI's because they were fighting with each other.

What I like though is like random victory conditions like, conquer 2 sectors of specific neutral race, or defeat 3x assembly players. I would like to see more of these :)

So it looks like mini campaigns.

And I think...I'll start a new empire, now I did 1 hero for each race and when few heroes join me in scenario, then some of them have -400 morale or sth, just because I killed AI and migrated colonies to my race. I thought this negative morale will not affect heroes I created. Because after all they're all in one empire;p

Cheers!

i agree, i play 3 vanguard heroes, 1 shakarn, 1 oathbound and 1 skeleton dude.
so lot of times forced to find which races are all playing the game so i dont fk up those 3 heroes and many time have to do allot of diplomacy with those 3 races to keep hero morale up.
