Doctrines:
Could make phylacteries a more mid game doctrine that:
a.) Lets your leader revive after 1 turn
b.) Gives heroes resurgence or alternatively gives a large energy and operation point discount on the revive hero operation
Could make final tier doctrine that lets you choose to empower either phantasma, undead, or demons while slightly hampering the others. Balancing it would be that you don't want to run all 3, since at that point you'd just be wasting 3 doctrine slots for almost no boost.
Necromancy:
Give the necromancy branch its own version of the revive hero operation that gives them undead-related tags permanently and comes with both boons and penalties. Like, the heroes could be allowed to use undead-exclusive mods or be affected by operations that only affect undead in exchange for a rebalancing of stats.
Phantasma:
Tactical Op called Hunters of Champions or something that gives certain Phantasma units (or all of them idk) bonus accuracy, crit, damage against hero/leader units.
Or Tactical Op called Black Mark that applies -resistance, fumble chance, slow, or other penalties on enemy heroes.
Demons:
I think it'd be cool both as a tactical op and as a strategic op to be able to send an uncontrollable, hostile to all demon. Probably tier 3, melee, calling down a single entity as a tactical op or sending a stack of 3 down on the strategic map.
It would have to be strong for a tier 3, considering it's basically an unmodded marauder.
A tactical op to summon a powerful demon in exchange for sacrificing a unit would be cool, too, even if Psynumbra already has something like it.
Maybe i could have the hero do the same kind of branch into 3 classes
If they go necromancy they get a raise dead, the infection mechanic where it raises after combat. Maybe some biochemical spells. Inflict Infection, Posion
They go Demonology get essence charge (kind of like collecting souls for summons) and summons, the sacrafice could be needed fpr late game demons, some thermal damage resistance. Inflict Insanity, Chaos, Burning.
And Phantasma can be more directly combat, like mid game floating, gaining some kinetic resistance/ethereal tag, Inflict Fear, Possession,
