Voidbringer Invasion only attacks human player?
as the title says: my first time experiencing the voidbringer invasion in a 8 player ffa. Voidbringers were joined/not joined, spawners were placed. Only 1 adjacent to me. From that point on, every turn 1 full stack attacked my colony. every 4 turns another spawner appears close to my territory. Only 2 ai factions joined them. The ai did not clear out any spawners and no other spawners appeared anywhere on the map except close to me. Also (I cannot see through the fog of war but) no ai factions were destroyed, no Voidbringer stacks attacked the ai (at least in my vision). I just tested the hardest and earliest invasion so I have no hard feelings about not being able to destroy the spawners in time (them being protected by 18 units at all times) but why does the map not IMMEDIATELY fill up with a million spawners since the ai does not destroy any? Does the ai (even those that do not join them) have a always jail free card because it is not able to handle the invasion? If so that is absolutely lazy design. Great expansion otherwise! thanks for the feedback!

In my game they also attacked other AIs. But to be honest my impression of this feature is really bad. I had everything on normal 5 AIs were against voidbringers + 3 joined them. Initial 5 spawners appeared and started pumping units attacking everything. Honestly I don´t understand how this is winable with more spawners appearing every turn + new stack of enemy units spawning next to every spawner each turn. In like 5 turns it became too much and I couldn´t do anything. Other AIs were slowly losing cities.....those voidbringer units are OP AF, If I knew how this works before I started, I would have turned it off completely. I thought it would spice up mid-late game . But this more like a new mode since it turns off victory conditions. Practicaly the game was over on turn 60 as soon as it started -_- lame

I only played one game so far with the new expansion - but have to agree - this changes the game drastically. In my game i sided with the invaders and just flew under everyone's radar until i got my victory doomsday researched and deployed. The AI that sided against them were too busy fighting them off so i could turtle in relative safety with just the annoying NPC factions spawning every few turns and rushing my cities. Only one AI made any actual play against me in that time.
Not sure what i could do if i was against the invaders with those spawns happening so frequently - would just wear me down.

End game victory options for those that side with the invaders gets limited.

Now that I have the DLC, is it every game that will have this invasion happening? Or is something that can be turned off - or random?

It can be turned off in advanced options

This is my second run with invasions turned on (this time set to latest), first time was neat and pitted me and former enemies against my former ally while we took on the voidbringers, this time the novelty is gone. The first stack they sent had a T4 unit which was bs to fight but added a bit of challenge, upon defeat they sent the beacon to the other side of the planet... yay. Every single stack I've faced since has been easy compared to that first one (even the AI players are untroubled), the only challenge comes from needing to cross so much hostile territory with multiple strong armies and reduce my colonies defense in a time of war while I deal with the beacon. I don't think I will be activating invasions for future games.

No surprise they are easy if set to latest invasion and planet threat set to not greatest. They started sending stacks of 6 tier 4 units in my game.

My first experience was like this: I was still in the expansion phase. Had fairly developed capital and four start-up colonies. Only two armies because I’ve got some losses from the wildlife or other recent engagement. No threat from neighbors yet, they were also still building up. And in the map settings, invasions were set to “later”. Yet it started quite early, in my opinion! Maybe it’s because I play on the huge world with very slow game speed. Obviously, invasion timeline does not scale up to the game speed. And now it started. First I messed up and lost my glorious two armies just by surprise. I was playing as Amazons, so mostly waited for enemies to come closer then attacked from the distance. And these core Voidbringers, who knew they can attack from cheatishly long distance, also destroying an unit in one go! And here goes the math: you can only prevail by numbers. Since you cannot sit in the trench and shoot at the baddies, you have to move everyone close to the core mofos and dumbly overwhelm them. I’ve lost my two armies real quick and hid whatever was left in the capital. From then it was an endless cycle: raise an army, defend the capital, restock casualties, defend again, restock, defend. No resources to protect colonies because there’s one spawner for each colony. Unless I initially had 2 armies in each colony (+ militia), they are sitting ducks and will fall real quick. No resources to build more units to start retaliatory attack. Then they started sending more than 1 army at my capital, gameover. Well, I’ve actually rage-quit, but gameover nevertheless. Soo if you prefer it slow-paced on a huge world (like me) then you’d probably wait for a patch where they make invasions scale up with game speed and world size.

I usually play against Very Hard AI. Yesterday managed to win against voidbringers for the first time as Prometian DVAR. Biggest problem for me was lack of range versus voidbringer units and almost complete inability to destroy shields. Nuclear solution was good upgrade, but in general I found that I just should prioritise damage+mobility+range above survival. So the best unit for Voidbringer killing became Autonom Justicar (tripod with rocket launcher).

About difficulty - go into world settings. You can alter invasion parameters there. For example you can hard lock it to start no earlier than Turn 100 (out of 150). If you can't provide powefull enough units at the turn 100, then something is really wrong with playstyle.

I usually used 3 full stacked armies per city to protect myself. One, usually with character, was consisted purely from 1 character/4 purifiers/Either Rocket launcher or Baron.
Second from heavy units (excavator tanks + barons).
And third from anything that I can recruit from NPC factions.
