For other evolving units:
The Kirko ones are "ok" but they only turn into 2 rank II and become slightly more useful critters, random mind you. Usually not worth the energy to make them until you get the big melee guy that pumps them out whenever he eats somebody, and then only for fun.
The Heritor do not evolve so much as when their ghost guys hit max level they get a new ability that lets them take over another unit permently, almost any other unit that isnt mindless. Up to rank III with a mod. Makes it worth it to run around a squad or two of these guys with your other armies so you can fill out some of the other races units that you like. It takes a while to level them up but I kinda like them.
Honestly for evolving critters the psi-fish pretty good even if they start off kinda lame, sirens are amazing with a couple mods and make more psi-fish along the way. Glad they don't turn into those almost useless Medusa. But you can just buy sirens when you hit freindly, so no need to babysit and level up the smaller units. I always end up sending off their free lower level units to explore/die once I can buy sirens.
But the best for evolving is the Xenoplague. Lil spore podling dudes are deceptively dangerous and having a couple stacks of Tier III evolved mommas is Game Over for the AI.
Anybody else know about the evolving critters? Especially the animals?
For graphics issues, start buy turning off shadows, and everything else way down.
hey thanks a bunch
There is a tactical operation for that. Works best if the target is rooted or sleeping.
octowale cane evolve to elder octowale (oddly the turtle guys cant evolve to turtle hatchmother)
quartzite buggos can evolve to quartzite gorilas, but gorillas dont turn into worms
lil hoperhounds (green) can turn into meduim hoperhounds (red) can turn into big hopperhounds (black/orange)
Beatle babys turn into big beatles, which is nice if you get em via mind control cus they have that resurection mod
I think thats it for the animals.

just look for the metamorhpasis ability
1: Start as Amazon
2: Research Animal Mind Control / Befriend Animal tactical Operation
3: Get / Capture / Buy with influence a Vanguard Settlement / Colony
4: Research and Build the "Training Center" in the Vanguard Colony
( Vanguard Society Tech, that anyone can research regardless of their starting faction )
5: Get them "jacked in" to do some Virtual Training in the said Vanguard Colony.
( Works even on turning Psi Fish Tier 1 units into Tier 3 units, just take forever at 3 XP per turn )
Unless they changed something in this patch, doctrine techs for each faction are unique and only available if you start as that faction. So players cannot build the D-VAR happiness building unless they started as Dvar and can research the first doctrine. Likewise, players won't get the training centre since it's the first doctrine tech for Vanguard which is only available when starting as that faction.
If anything, it's doable when starting as Vanguard. Requires players to capture an Amazon colony and then research the military technology which grants animal mind control.
You are correct, I got it backwards
The Amazons get bonuses for animal under their control so they are more useful under their control, then other factions.
Unless a captured Vanguard Colony gets to keep its "Training Center" if it is already built.
Then again that is more of mid~late game strategy since i have no idea how AI prioritizes colony development.
Also if you find location where when you take it gives all your units level up use it for prime rank. It's match more efficient to get 25xp than 5 or 10.
Unique faction buildings (training centre, Dvar Bulwark etc.) do not carry over when another player conquers the settlement. Want the Training Centre? Play as Vanguard. That's the only way.
The "cheap" way of levelling up animals to their final forms is only possible if playing as Vanguard and in control of an Amazon colony. Reminder: Animals under the Vanguard aren't as strong compared to playing as the Amazon, even if ranks are easy to come by.
