I was wondering if there is a hivemind faction you can play as.

Not quite. The Kirko used to be a Hivemind in the lore but that connection was severed when the star union conquered them. So now they all have individual consciousness.

But they still benefit from togetherness. They have swarm shields and stuff so they do have some of their old hivemind abilities.

Yeah,while they are now independent minded they still benefit greatly from working together

There is mind control in this game so a hivemind faction would be completely wrecked by a basic mind control ability.
