How to make more Heart lore
I'm not finding much giving me heart lore, which my cult is based around, and I can't subvert grail lore or moth lore to make more (or any other lore types). Is this a bug? How do I make more?

There are books that provide heart lore. I mean, I found at least one. Would imagine there are more? So just keep visiting the shops.

If you get lore of all the types leading up to heart, you can covert them one stage at a time all the way to heart lore (or whatever lore you want). You'll have to break them down to convert with 2s, and it'll take a long time, but I'm pretty sure you can do it.

You can subvert only one type of lore into another; for Heart, it's Winter lore that you can turn into more Heart. You'll probably only find one piece of heart lore in the bookstore; most advanced lores can only be uncovered through expeditions. In the meantime, you should have enough Winter lore to subvert to get to Heart 4, or possibly Heart 6 if you're using the auction house as well as the bookstore. From there, you can use Contentment as an influence alongside your Heart 6 Lore to upgrade any believers you have into Disciples, and just your Heart 6 lore or a Heart 4 + Contentment to upgrade your Heart followers into disciples.

Generally speaking, Heart and Edge are the two aspects that take the most expedition work to upgrade past the starter levels. It's worth it since Heart followers are your best way of keeping Notoriety under control, but it does take work! Start up on expeditions as soon as you can.

Could you give a slow, detailed explanation on the cultist upgrade thing? Nothing I've tried so far worked, so I'd be grateful for a heads-up.

Sure! To start, bring your Cult token (the card that looks like a hooded figure with the color of your cult's aspect behind it), and drag it into Talk. When you do, it will then open up three more slots. One of them accepts your (mortal) followers, be they acquaintances, believers, or disciples. To make Acquaintances into Believers, just bring the lore of your cult's type (lantern, forge, grail, so on) and bring it into the "Ceremony" slot. It should make the acquaintance into a believer. You can also use something of the right aspect in Trappings in place of lore - it's a handy way to get rid of things like Restlessness, Dread, and Fascination before they start troubling you.

To make a Believer into a Disciple it's the same process, but now you need a higher degree of your aspect, which is where the Trappings bit comes into play. You need at least 7 intensity. Let's say you have a Lore 6 on you. That would be enough to upgrade the believers who are already most suited to your cult since they'll already have 2 of the same aspect, but the rest need more. That's where Trappings comes in. You can put ingredients, tools, or influences into Trappings - all but Tools will be consumed in the process. Influences are the nicest use here because oftentimes it's also getting rid of a threat, like Restlessness, or Dread. Check what Aspects your Influences have - it'll be in the bottom right corner. You can also get more influences by exploring the Mansus, if you're at that point yet.

Contentment - 2 Heart and 2 Lantern (if I'm remembering right)
Restlessness - 3 Forge, Lantern, and Grail
Dread - 2 Edge
Fascination - 2 Moth
Fleeting Memory - 2 Secret Histories and 2 Moth.

Oftentimes expeditions are needed to get everyone up to Disciple without waiting a long time for the right lore type or influence to drop, but it's very much doable.

Exalts are once again the same, but now even more lore intensity is needed. You need 21 Aspect of whatever your cult is, and you can only Exalt the Disciples who match your Cult's Aspect. They'll add 5 to that upgrade process. That leaves 16 left for you to cover using only lore and a trapping, so you will have to do expeditions at this point to get higher level lore and rarer trappings. Best of luck, and hope this helped!
