How good is the AI?
We played a 5 player game (real board game) today and I finished second to last (Polonia, patriotic) although I had trained for hours in the digital version. We played the campaign though...and the peace scenario...now I played against 4 hard bots and won...with a worse performance.

Do you think the AI is good?

Practice does not make perfect as it acts in a different way...real players counter your actions and spread out on the board. The AI just hoards resources, has workers on the same hex and protects them with mechs. You can hold the factory hex and nobody cares...

Then Saxony finished the game by getting its 6th star and finished second to last....also being low on popularity.

I did not even play that well....

AI is competent but i agree with what you say, they basically never win, and they always end the game early when you are in front.

They are great for new players to learn factions & boards. I would not say that they are bad, they are pretty good.

If you give yourself a super weak faction/board combo and the AI a super strong one you might find it a challenge.

The AI does a decent enough job of being challenging enough that you can't just ignore it, but is also easy enough that you can try to mess around some.

Also, a "better" AI might be quite possible, but the real question is whether it would be enjoyable to play against for the majority of players. Because if the current AI is "good enough" for the majority, the amount of resources spent on improving it likely won't pay off (additional sales, DLC sales). And it's usually not cheap to improve an AI above "competent".

I just purchased it today and played one game against the AI. (Polonia Patriotic vs Rusviet Engineering) I won 105-31. It was ridiculous. I've only played against the Automa with the physical game. I wish they would have just programmed the Automa to use as a single player opponent. The program looked really cool and I know multi-player would be different, but it wasn't worth it for me. Maybe I'll get the IOS version if they come out with it.
