Stuck inside a side quest

This happened a few years ago so I never beat the game. I'm stuck inside a side quest where I can't beat the boss, but can't leave the quest area. I've started over a few times, but just can't bring myself to get to where I was since I'm near the end of the game.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, is there a way to leave side quests? I don't wan't to say more since I don't want to include spoilers.

Can you at least tell which side quest it is?
Or the name of the boss?
There are many side quests with bosses near the end game.

The boss is Bacillus. The bacteria with the virus spawns. Nothing I do can get past it. I think I'm just too low level or not equipped right.

My only save is before the boss so I can't load a previous save.

25 hours into the game. Basically stopped playing because of it a few years back, but I would love to see how the game progresses and ends.

Boss: Bacillus + Virus
Bacillus is weak to lightning. Defeat each virus as they appear or they'll explode after a few turns.


The key to victory is really to defeat the virus ASAP once they appear.
Those with thunder skills should focus on the boss and the rest on the virus.

Also check if you can still unlock some skills.
