Any Character Tier List?
Has anyone ever done a tier list of the characters, rating their effectiveness on their best roles? How would you rate them?

Something like: Enda -> Healer, S (They can have more than one rate, if they have more than one role that stands out)

Well, I did a guide for all characters about skill trees.
And then it depends if you need more damage per hit or more hits per turn (some mobs are very special).

Each character has its pro and cons, and some mobs/bosses are impossible to win with other formations than recommended in the guide.

The game is remarkably well balanced tbh. The question isn't so much what's the best party as what's the best party for this dungeon or fight.

That said, I personally grew rather fond of Throg by the end of the game. Since his magic attacks mostly consume TP instead of MP, you're a lot more free to cut loose with him. And IIRC more of his moves (than most other characters) have damage or effectiveness that scale with his TP, which means you can also hoard it for a major strike. I used to do insane damage with the guy using that technique.

Yes, I usually put the best summon on him, because its strength scales with TP, if I remember correctly.

Yes, I know your guide, since I always read it while playing (thanks for it, by the way!), but, for example, regardless of her availability problems, wouldn't you say that there's no better healer than Enda?

Edna > Dr. Scruffs > the others
It is really mentioned in the character guide.

I dunno, I got some use out of Dr. Scruffs and all but closer to the end of the game he just can't keep up. I found Asera to be a lot better of a healer at that point, personally.

It's been a hot minute since I played, but here's my quick take:

S:
Xero - Boss killer with huge single target damage
Enda - Best healer, and even Tatsumaki is good damage

A:
Burns - His buffs are just too good. Chaos trance + Attack Trance on Xero = instant win. The one that doubles everyone's max HP is useful too
Sandra - Drowns are amazing and almost required on bosses. The scruffs team heal is super useful and doesn't need MP.
Throg - Great at moving around TP and big Summon damage. Tons of shard slots early.
Asera - Can hit every element and has great mag damage. The devices that revive and heal everyone are clutch. Prism Link is totally useless.

B:
Slash - Great magic damage but reaaaally slow. Physical damage is just okay. Buffs are just okay. Flare shield is useful but niche. Can take a lot of hits.
Eidol - Spamming Light Dash works well and Macrocosm is great. Otherwise too breakable.

Honestly nobody's lower than B. It's pretty well balanced.

I mostly agree. I would probably move Slash to A, though. An AGI spike alleviates a lot his speed problems. Regarding his physical damage, in difficult boss battles Last Stand and Desperation do a lot of damage.

I used Edna, Xero, Sandra, and Slash. I feel like Sandra is pretty amazing overall. The 4th slot I think is where it's a bit tough to find someone good to fill in.
