Old Pops Any consequence for keeping or returning him?
As the title says, really.

So, It's been a long time since I played Eastshade. I played it a couple of times on the bounce when it came out and not since. I caught Old Pops both times but honestly can't recall what I did other than completing the quest.

I was looking for information about the big lad and saw that he can be kept or returned, after you've landed him. No post I've found anywhere discusses whether to release or keep him, or what consequences there are, either way.

Knowing me, I'd have released him both times, when I got the option. I don't believe the tales about him eating everyone's jewellery! If he was gobbling up Eastshade children, that would be different.*

I'll hold off catching him and potter around collecting plants, brewing tea and painting pictures for a while.

* I'd have thought there would be heaps of trinkets stuck in his guts or littering the shoreline, if that bit was true!

Edit: I think my game is broken but I can still do this quest. I'd still like your thoughts! (:

Lol...both times I've set him free, so I dunno about any consequences :-)
If you keep/kill Old Pops, you're a jerk, but there are no consequences.

I can't bring myself to keep him either...

Yes, I wasn't trying to invite controversy. I genuinely wondered if there were implications one way or the other, as in games like Witcher 3.

For all I knew, if you kept him, heaps of Eastshadians would be delighted, because you'd removed a terrible menace!

All I knew was that letting him go the quest giver is a bit disappointed.

I've got my answer now and in the game I've just finished Old Pops got to live another day!

No, it was a logical question which is why I killed him in one play, because I wanted to know the same thing. So I just answered the question but added my own personal feelings which first of all I shouldn't have, and secondly, I was concerned you or others might interpret me as somehow suggesting "you'd" be a jerk, which I never intended. I just wanted to clear that up. It was a general answer to a posted question. :bluecat:

That's fine. You know, the one thing I dislike about forums and written posts is that it's not like having a chat in a real pub/restaurant, where you can read peoples expressions and body language. In that situation, you know what people mean much more accurately, and if you miss the signs, it can be cleared up in an instant.

in2white, rest assured, i have no problem with you. Far from it... after all, it was you that got me playing the game again after so long. Looking forward to that Dishonored play, when I'm up for it!

I kept pops and seen nothing in the game after the quest referring to pops. The fisherman guy by the shore then took pops from me when I talked to him to give the ring.

And for the people making a big fuss about keeping pops, it's just a game and pixels on your screen.

I kept Old Pops, still the journal entry says I've released him.
