Hello Lizoos,
Sorry you're having this issue. There are a couple of posts in this bug thread about this problem:

The two known solutions are to disable your anti-virus software (which you said you already tried, but it didn't help), and to disable a software program called "Faceit". https://www.faceit.com/en.
If you do have Faceit installed, you can try disabling it to see if that solves the issue.
If you don't have Faceit installed, feel free to post again to let me know. It would be good to know what Antivirus software you disabled on your computer and how you did it just to be sure that it really was disabled. You may also want to consider trying to disable programs that run automatically as you boot your computer to identify if there is some other software that is conflicting with the game. I realize that this may be more trouble than you wish to have, to get the game to run, but from past experience from other gamers here, this is the only known way to troubleshoot the issue. If you don't wish to do this, Steam has a refund policy which is detailed here: https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/. Of course, I do hope this is not necessary, but I mention it for completeness of my response.
Let me know if you need more detailed instructions about disabling startup programs or ensuring that your Anti-Virus software is really disabled.
I hope this helps. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Hello colo3000,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble sprinkling sparkle (glitter) in the Little Misfortune game. Controller support for the PS4 controller should just work as far as I'm aware. It doesn't sound quite right that the buttons on the controller work one way when connected via a USB cable and another way when connected via bluetooth.
Let's rule out some basic things first:
FYI, these are the PS4 to XBox One equivalents:
Square = X
Cross = A
Circle = B
Triangle = Y
So, if you do try to use the XBOX One configuration in Steam's Big Picture Mode, then try using the Triangle button on your controller again to sprinkle sparkle and see if it works that way (The "Y" button on a XBox One controller is used to sprinkle sparkle in the Little Misfortune game).
If none of this helps, consider trying to remap the "Triangle" button to emulate the "F" key on a PC keyboard. The "F" key on a PC keyboard causes Misfortune to sprinkle sparkle (glitter). There are many "remapping" programs available. One that I found which is freeware is called "AntiMicro" which can be downloaded here: https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro/releases. I experimented with the "portable" version of the software (antimicro-2.23-win32.portable.zip) with my Logitech F310 controller. This controller does not work with the game at all without remapping the Left Stick to move Misfortune left and right, and map various other buttons on that controller to keyboard equivalents in order to play the game.
Since I don't have a PS4 controller, I'm not sure exactly what the program screen will show if you experiment with this software, but I believe that you will see a layout for the buttons present on your PS4 controller. You'll need to "program" the "Triangle" key to emulate the "F" key on a PC keyboard. Then save the profile as a "Little Misfortune" profile. You must leave the antimicro software open and running with that profile selected and then start up the Steam Client software and run the Little Misfortune game. If you "Continue" a game past the point where Misfortune has the glitter bottle, you should then be able to press the Triangle button on your PS4 controller to make Misfortune sprinkle sparkle (glitter). If all the other buttons and other sticks and buttons etc. are working correctly, you should not need to remap anything else.
Please note that neither I nor Killmonday Games is endorsing any program for remapping controller keys, and you use this program at your own risk, and there are certainly others that you may use instead.
Please post again with any troubleshooting steps you tried and whether you tried to use any remapping program such as Antimicro to let me know if this solved your issue or not.
Meanwhile, I will check with the rest of the Killmonday Team to see if:
(*) We have access to a PS4 controller, and
(*) We can reproduce the issue you are experiencing
I'm not sure if we have access to a PS4 controller, so I cannot guarantee we'll be able to investigate further. If we can reproduce the issue you are experiencing, we can then consider it a bug and attempt to fix the issue in the future. This may not be a quick fix however, so I encourage you to consider remapping the "Triangle" key on your PS4 controller to a keyboard "F" as a possibly quicker fix that will allow you to continue playing the game from your couch via Bluetooth.
I'll post again if I find any other information that may be helpful.
I'm sorry for your inconvenience.
Hello isaidgetawesome,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble getting past the freeze you're experiencing. When you start the Little Misfortune game up again and select the "Continue" menu pick, does the game resume approximately where you left off? If so, are you still unable to get past the place where the controls freeze up?
I have not been able to replicate the issue you are experiencing, and without an reproducible bug to look at, making a fix is hard to do. Random loss of input device control can happen on computers which do not meet the minimum specs for playing the game. Since you didn't provide any specs on your computer, I cannot tell if yours meets the minimum specs or not. Usually, gamers with computers that don't meet the minimum specs experience this type of issue well before the point you are describing however. That's why I ask if you can resume the game by selecting the "Continue" menu pick when trying to play the game again. If you can, then I would suggest you do this and continue on with your gameplay.
If you absolutely cannot get past the point you are describing, I would be happy to provide you with an updated save game file that you can try to use to get past the point you're experiencing issues. But to do this, I need your save game files first. Doing this may allow me to get you past the point where the game is locking up for you, but with exactly the gameplay progress you already accomplished.
Your savegame files are located at this location (on Windows computers):
c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\Appdata\LocalLow\Killmonday Games\Little Misfortune
You'll need to upload the contents of this folder to a cloud service and provide a link to them in a reply post in this thread. I'll check your save files and see if I get the same results you do using those files.
If you do reply to this message, also please provide me the specs of your computer: Whether you're playing on a desktop or laptop computer, Make and model of your processor, amount of RAM, make and model of your video card, and the amount of video RAM it has, and what OS you're playing the game on (Windows, MacOS, or Linux (distribution and version). All this information can be obtained (on Windows computers) using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Instructions for using this tool can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/261180/discussions/1/392184522702472113/. You can also upload your report to the cloud and provide a link to it in your reply message.
I'm sorry for your inconvenience, isaidgetawesome.
I use PS3 gamepad and fail again.
R7-4800H,16g,windows10,RTX2060
I tried verify the integrity of the game files but nothing is useful.
I really want to play the game(althouth my English is not good)
And I hope the game can support Chinese! Thanks!!!
Hello 筱熙,
Thanks for showing your computer's specs. Your computer does meet (and greatly exceeds) the minimum specs needed to play the game. Have you rebooted your computer since you first installed the game? If not, please do so now and try again. Any change?
In your first post, you say you say "every keyboard is useless", but you also say you're using a PS3 controller in your second post. How did you configure the game when you first started it up?
Check this by starting the game up and at the first menu which appears, please select the "Options" menu and look at "Input type". Make sure that "Gamepad" is selected.
I don't have a PS3 controller. It appears that this device can be connected either via a USB cable and via bluetooth to a computer running Windows 10. Which way are you connecting it? If playing via bluetooth, try with a USB cable, and if with a cable, try via bluetooth if possible.
When playing with your PS3 controller, are you playing in "Big Picture" mode under Steam or under "regular" mode under Steam. Does playing the other way make any difference?
Are you able to play with any other input devices? Please change the "Input devices" selection for the game ("Options" then "Input devices") to "Mouse + Keyboard" temporarily and then try to play with your mouse and keyboard? Does that work? If not, change "Input devices" to "keyboard" temporarily and try again. Does that work?
If using either keyboard only or mouse plus keyboard works for you, but you can't get your PS3 controller to work, consider using one of the software programs available that remap gamepad controls to keyboard and mouse equivalents. You shouldn't need to do this with a PS3 controller, but if you try these troubleshooting steps without success, I don't have any other tips to suggest to get your controller to work.
Finally, consider getting a refund for the game if you cannot make the game work on your computer with any input device.
I'm happy to hear from you again if you care to post with the results of your troubleshooting, 筱熙.
difficult,sorry)
Hello again 筱熙,
Thanks for posting again. The translation software is working fine and I am understanding you pretty well. I'm sorry that you're still having issues using your PS3 controller, and that neither your keyboard, nor mouse are working either.
It does sound like you are trying to use at least a keyboard in addition to your PS3 controller, right? You said that you can use the [SpaceBar] key on your keyboard to skip through the first cutscene where the Fox meets Mr. Death and then puts on headphones, pulls the wagon, and goes through the stone portal, so I know the keyboard works early in the game.
It's odd that none of your input devices work (not your keyboard, not your mouse, and not your PS3 controller) after that cutscene and after Misfortune has her first conversation with Mr. Voice.
If you wish to troubleshoot more, then please do the following:
Please disconnect your PS3 controller from your computer, and then set "Input Devices" to "Mouse + Keyboard. Then please try to play the game again in "regular" mode, and reply with answers to these questions:
(1) After the initial cutscene (with the Fox putting on headphones, pulling the wagon, and going through the stone portal) and after Misfortune and Mr. Voice talk for a while inside her house, you are not able to use either the keyboard or a mouse to move Misfortune, right?
(2) Just so we're clear, you're trying to use the and keys on your keyboard, and they do not move Misfortune, right? And you're also not able to left click with a mouse to either the left or right of Misfortune to move Misfortune on the screen either, right?
(3) Here's a screenshot of where you can first move Misfortune: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a3wPTFHxf-6kkuyGvN68rIPQUYyD2MXb. You are trying to move Misfortune on the screen at this point in the game, right?
(4) Are you using a "special" keyboard or "mouse" on your computer that might be causing conflicts with the game? And they both connect to your computer with a USB cable, right? Do you have any other devices connected to your computer via a USB cable besides your keyboard and your mouse? If so, please disconnect them to avoid any conflicts with keyboard and mouse while you're troubleshooting the issue.
If you want to upload a DirectX Diagnostic Tool report to the cloud and provide me with a link to that report in a reply message, I can take a look and see if I see anything unusual about devices connected to your computer. Here are instructions for obtaining that report if you care to submit it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/648814845450819657/.
(5) If you are still unable to control Misfortune in the game using any input device, then using remapping software to make your PS3 controller work probably won't help either. But I have a controller that does not work with the game (Logitech F310) unless I start up such a remapping software and map controller keys to keyboard and mouse equivalents. If you do get your keyboard and mouse to work with the game and want to pursue using this software, please let me know and I'll provide you with information about this.
It's very generous of you to keep the game when you cannot play it at all using any input device. I'm unsure I'll be able to get the game running for you if no input device works on your computer with the game. So you may wish to reconsider refunding the game.
If you wish, we can start a correspondence away from this forum. If you wish to do this, please visit this site: [https://franbowgame.wordpress.com/gamer-support/] https://franbowgame.wordpress.com/gamer-support/ . I'm sorry that the game just doesn't work on your computer without all this troubleshooting.
savefile: https://pastebin.pl/view/2ab9327f
edit: verifying the game files did not help either
Hello φlux,
Your save file is corrupt (probably as a result of the crash). At least I was unable to use it.
I was unable to replicate the crash.
I've prepared new save game files for you. The files are here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vvRJYDhIyai4W28Blu3hKfnUmnTtpUk6.
Copy the files to the same place you found your save file that you sent to me. These files will overwrite your savegame files in Slot 3 (if you have any), so you'll want to copy those off somewhere else if you have made manual saves if you wish to save them
Start up the Little Misfortune game, and, at the menu that appears after you start up the game, select the "Load" menu pick. Then select "Load 3" from the menu that appears.
I am unable to tell from your savegame which toy you had Misfortune take with her when she left her house, but otherwise, you should be at the zoo again and ready to resume your gameplay.
I would appreciate a return post from you indicating that the save game worked for you (or not).
Thanks, φlux.
Just downloaded the game for the first time today

Thank you
Hello Booga-Spank,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the initial cinematic as you begin the game. It sounds like you've done nearly all the troubleshooting I can think of.
I have no experience working and testing the game on such a high end computer. I don't know if the high specs are what is causing the issue or not, since we haven't tested the game on a computer with those specs in the studio
The only suggestions I have are below. I don't know if they will help or not, and you try them at your own risk. If they don't help, then please consider requesting a refund for the game.
- In the options menu of the game, toggle the V-Sync and PostFX options in all possible combinations (V-Sync On/PostFX On (default); V-Sync Off/PostFX Off; V-Sync off/PostFX on; V-Sync on/PostFX off) and see if this makes any difference.
- I don't know what other programs you might be running when you're trying to play the Little Misfortune game. With such a high end computer, it's unlikely that any startup programs or other programs you've set to running at the same time (like a screen recording or streaming software program) would cause the cinematics to stutter, but I can't know for sure without more information from you. Consider disabling any startup programs that you don't need for "normal" operation of your computer (don't disable any audio or video driver programs that may be loaded at startup, for example) and try to play the cinematic again. Instructions for disabling startup programs may be found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-which-apps-run-automatically-at-startup-in-windows-10-9115d841-735e-488d-e749-9ba301d441e6. Again, this may not be necessary or help, and you do this at your own risk.
- I'm unsure if the CPU you have has a built-in integrated video card and if so, whether the CPU exposes the integrated GPU for possible use. In case the NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super just doesn't work well with the game, consider trying to use Settings/Display/Graphics Settings to point "Classic App" "Little Misfortune.exe" to use "High Performance" graphics. Instructions for doing this are here: https://www.howtogeek.com/351522/how-to-choose-which-gpu-a-game-uses-on-windows-10/. If this screen only shows one graphics card (for both "Power Saving" and "High Performance"), then there's nothing to tweak here. But if it shows two different cards for these settings, then try both of them and see which one yields better results. I would think that "High Performance" would work better, but if not, then please try "Power Saving" to see if the stuttering goes away when playing the initial cinematic. You can access the cinematics from the game's Main menu (select Extras, then Cinematics).
- Consider downgrading the video driver for your NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. Again, I don't know if this will help, and it's a lot of work just to get a game to run. Again, you do this at your own risk, and it may not help.
- Change the affinity of the "Little Misfortune.exe" to use fewer cores. Here are some instructions to change the affinity: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/processor-affinity-windows. I also do not know if this will help. The game has not been tested on a 12-core CPU, so lowering the cores used to say 8 (standard) or even fewer may help, but I haven't been able to test since I don't have access to a 12 core CPU. This setting has to be set each time you start up the game.
If you decide not to try these suggestions, and/or you do try them and they do not work, then a refund for the game is my best suggestion for now. It's not clear to me if a "fix" for this issue will become available any time soon.If you care to post again with the results of any further troubleshooting, I can add your results to our troubleshooting knowledge. Thanks.
I'm sorry that I cannot be more helpful.

This gamer was affected by an issue with his Windows computer's Timezone and/or Current Time information being corrupted in the Window's registry. Little Misfortune uses this information during the game. When the info is corrupted, all input devices stop working early in the game (just after the initial cinematic and first conversation between Misfortune and the other main character in the game Mr. Voice).
The fix is simple. It requires going to Windows Settings/Time & Language/Date & Time and setting/resetting the parameters on that page, then rebooting before playing the game again. More detailed instructions to determine if your computer is affected by this issue and the fix may be found on Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xPgK9qJxShvydJ32qndytEWY1neGIrsY/view.
Hello again,
I've just sent you an email with instructions for using a controller mapping program which may or may not work. Please send me your DirectX Diagnostic Tool report by replying to that email.
Please let me know if anything I sent you helps by replying to that email.
Thanks
