Sonic'06 is NOT backwards compatible on later Xbox consoles, just to avoid confusion. Couple years after the original release, the game was indeed available as a "Games On Demand" digital title on Xbox Live, but it was quickly delisted to "increase the value of physical copies" and stayed that way until just recently, after more than a decade. Think it was delisted from Xbox Live almost immediately after people reported shorter loading times compared to the disc version, which was somehow a bad thing I guess? You can install the 360 disc onto your HDD and get the same results, so if this was a valid reason for them to delist the digital version, it was a retarded one indeed.

I'd REALLY love for it to be backwards compatible tho. x3

Imagine if they could make it backward compatible and the load times were gone

No, the load times and in fact the double loads are a part of what makes this game hilarious, they must be preserved.
Ehhh... it's really only funny the first time, and like, in concept.
After the dozenth time you've seen some quest giver NPC give a single line of text-only dialogue sandwiched between two long as ♥♥♥♥ loading screens, you're really not laughing anymore.

The funny kind of bad would be something like Big Rigs Over the Road Racing where I can achieve light speeds by driving in reverse.

Whereas I don't find any fun whatsoever by just sitting there and doing nothing, especially when I can pretty much do an entire session of Tony Hawk in the time it takes to go through 4 loading screens which is how long you'll be waiting to retry failed missions which BTW you'll be doing a lot once you reach the Trials of Soleanna, particularly the second trial.

All I would do to fix this would just do what most later games did by having a Retry prompt allowing you to try again instantly without any loading in-between because all the information needed for the mission is already loaded in memory.
Many people don't like Shadow and 06 so there's no point porting them over.
i mean i like 06 but thats just me

Many critics don't, the market willing to pay for them would be no different from Lost World or Forces.

Especially since everyone I knew as a kid at school and at home loved the game. I even got together with a couple of the ones living near me to take turns playing our favourite Shadow levels.

I don't know that Sega cares what the people want with this series. They seem very out of touch with their audience to me.

Some examples:
  • Sonic 4 Episode I is about as poorly rated by users on Metacritic as Shadow the Hedgehog, and only slightly higher than Sonic 06, yet they eagerly shoved that garbage on us.
  • Sonic Generations is the one game where people very vocally begged to pay money for DLC so they could have more of the game, so of course, unlike Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Lost World, and Sonic Forces, it never got any.
  • Generations is probably the best received "modern" 3D game, yet they've only had Sonic Colors' director handle all the major Sonic Team games since then despite mediocre reviews for everything that isn't Colors.
  • They were totally caught off guard by the huge success of Sonic Mania despite tons of people yelling at them for decades to make a game exactly like it.
  • They failed to capitalize on the success of Sonic Mania in any real way.
  • They spent about a decade not giving us the Sonic 1 and 2 mobile remakes despite very strong demand, and waited until just after fans had ported the remakes themselves and made their own (superior) Sonic 3&K remakes to bring us Sonic Origins.
  • The content of the games themselves pretty strongly indicates they have no idea what people like about Sonic, with the games going for worthless gimmicks, having strong focus on combat, or perpetually including wisps despite pushback on all these things, when all most people seem to want, and they're very vocal about it, is something similar to Adventure and/or a refinement of the boost formula.
  • Chao. Maybe Frontiers brings them back, there are certainly a lot of "leaks" about it, but even if so, they've still spent ages ignoring very strong demand for Chao to return up until that point.

Honestly, with the way they've been handling not just Colours, but the classic trilogy as of lately, I don't want to see any more Sonic remakes or remasters since I know they're clearly not capable of doing them well at all. I don't even want to see remasters for the Adventure games, Heroes or the Advance trilogy anymore as much as I enjoy those games.

They de-listed Sonic 1-3&K and CD on Steam to bring us Origins and was somehow worse than what we used to be able to get through the Mega Drive Classics or older Sonic collections and are far more expensive at that as well. All while offering no loyalty benefits to those that owned them on Steam previously.

Do you really think that the SEGA we currently have right now are able to provide adequate versions of either Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic 2006? Honestly, I don't think so. I mean, they can't even get their original classics right which says a lot considering how easy of a task it's supposed to be for 16-bit 2D sprite based games.

Price, lack of loyalty discount, Denuvo, changed Sonic 3 music, and bizarrely low fidelity music in places aside, I don't agree. Origins is a better way to play than on their mediocre Genesis emulator I think, even with all the problems.
The real issue to me is that Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic 3 A.I.R. already exist at this point, and it completely fails to measure up to any of them.

I think they easily could, they just never bother to, particularly with Sonic.
If it's Yakuza or something, they'd probably put in the effort.

I'd like to see the legions of people beloving Sonic Lost World enough to demand a PC port of it. :steamhappy:

Still haven't played Colours but gotta agree, whether it was Generations or Forces I really dislike the wisp gameplay.
Colors is better.

Colors is too stingy with boost and too focused on slow, blocky, 2D platforming for it to be "boost to win".
Forces is the only game in the series where I'd say "boost to win" is accurate.
