Sonic World: gamepad controls are wrong
Again, sorry for posting in a forum for a different game but I can't post it anywhere else.

The way the game detects my gamepad controls is wrong. It keeps thinking that A is Y, X is A and I haven't figured out what the others are, though Start and Back are absent.

It seems to have been set for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamepads, but I only have an Xbox One and Nintendo Switch gamepad for my PC, and my Xbox one is the one I'm using.

Any ideas how to fix the controls, or should I just learn to play it with the keyboard and mouse?

I'll be honest, I don't know.
I'm using an Xbox 360 controller, so Sonic World works fine for me.

But if it's reading the buttons weird, can you just map the button you want it to use?
As far as I can see, you can remap your buttons individually.

I found a work around via trying to map the buttons in the way to mention, but I can't remember how I did it as it was from advice I got when asking about this elsewhere (don't remember where either) and I forgot to edit this post to say I'd gotten around it.

Use a program called x360ce, it make any (or most) games think you controller is a xbox 360 controller. hope this helped

It's OK: I said it was fixed. I just forgot where I learned to do it and forgot to update this thread before someone replied.
