I made a custom config tool that allows fullscreen 16:9 and more [DL included]
-Custom Config Tool-

Hi there, I recently bought this game in the sales and was very annoyed that the included config tool doesnt even work. So I decided to make my own.

It can do everything the original config tool was supposed to do and a few extra things such as:

Fullscreen 16:9 so the game actually fills the whole screen (no crappy borders).
Japanese language option.
Start game from the config tool.

Download the tool from my website: Download[bubblegumballoon.github.io]

Version 1.0
- First Release

<------------------------------------------------------------------------>

You can replace SEGA's tool located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sonic Adventure DX\config.exe and this can then open with steam rather than the old one.

You dont have to do this but it makes things easier in future.

Anyway enjoy and this just goes to show how lazy SEGA really is. I made a working config tool in under an hour and they still havent fixed theirs over a year later. Its really silly that the community has to fix stuff like this.

Anyway at least now we can enjoy a great game! :)

I might have done this wrong when putting the file into the Steam folders, but I cannot seem to get it to run without the borders. Setting it in Windowed mode with Stretch to Fit on does not remove the borders, and running it in fullscreen crashes it outright. In addition, Steam will not allow the game to be launched from the config tool itself. I have yet to try this from outside of Steam, but I thought I should ask if I had placed the config tool incorrectly. It is in the directory you had listed within your post.
Yes you should overwrite the current config tool in the directory posted, remember to back up the old one before doing it though, just in case you want it back.

Hm that sounds very odd, it works fine for me although I dont think stretch to fit work with windowed mode. It deffinitly works with fullscreen for me though I tried it earlier.

I will try the tool on a couple of other computers to see if there are any issues I can fix.

btw what is your operating system and screen resolution? I tested this on windows 7 with a 1920x1080 display.

Update: I have since learned that 'stretch to fill' also sets the screen res to 1400x900 so it wont work on a lot of laptops and people with low res screens. Nothing I can do about that unfortunately. Thats something SEGA would have to fix with the game itself.

I tested on my laptop and using stretch to fill seems to crash it, this seems to be an issue with the game and not the tool itself. Its also why it probably wasnt an option in the default launcher.

picking any other resolution and fullscreen works fine though. :)

I will make an update which makes 1280x720 the recomended resolution and also put a note telling people that strectch to fill may cause the game to crash on some computers.
So, right now the config tool here looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/U4Nq1.jpg

Any way to make that actually legible, or can someone post a picture of what's supposed to go in those boxes so I can get this set up?

[EDIT] Nevermind, changing the options doesn't do anything to change SADX anyway.

Thats very strange. Are you using windows 98? :S
I only tested this on windows 7

Also this is what it should look like. http://i.imgur.com/fCvxAzX.png

Update: This issue will be fixed when I upload the next version. The tool will then look fine for people using windows classic

Nope, Windows 7. I never did get either this or the official config tool working, but that's okay, the game seems pretty playable anyway. It just really confused me.
Thanks the original Steam one really doesn't work at all.
How do i find the keycode values to my gamepad? i googled logitech f310 button keycodes and got nothing useful. normally i use the logitech profiler but i think the gamepad options in this config overrides the profiler.
I honestly dont know sorry, I use an xbox controller so I left the values at thier default.

In a future update I will make it so you can map keys just by pressing the button on your controller. Im pretty busy though so that probably wont be added for a while.

if you cant find the keycodes for your controller an alternative work around would be to use a tool like xpadder to map your controller buttons to keyboard buttons. Its not ideal but it would work for now.

Hope that helps.
You're awesome dude, seriously.
and does this make a native 16:9 or is it only stretching the image, making circles look like ovals?
It stretches it to 16:9. There is no way to make the game properly render at 16:9, thats something SEGA would have to add. I played the whole game stretched and to be honest its really not that noticable.

You dont have to enable that though, you can still use this tool to configure other settings such as fullscreen.
