This VS Gamecube Version VS Dreamcast Version
(EDIT: Please do not respond any more unless another sale starts...)
For anyone who has all 3 or atleast 2 of the 3, which one is overall the best? I'm considering getting this version for the purpose of speedrunning, but I want to know stuff like how it controls in comparison with a controller(if it even SUPPORTS the 360 controller). Mostly asking because it looks like I'm going to have 4$ or so to spend by the end of the sale at the rate the sale has been going.

If it's not worth it for someone who had trouble controling Sonic when going back to the GC version, then I'll just skip on this game for my steam library. Thanks in advance for anyone who responds.

The steam version does support the 360 controller. But if you're gonna do it for speed running you should find out what version most other speed runners use I'd say. I think they mostly use the cd release from 2004 but I could be wrong.

Also this steam version has the option for different reslutions, the game might act different because of this since some calculations are relative to screen size. One example is enemies acting weird and not attacking you much.

For the time being I suggest the GC version. This is a port of that version, but it's not a very good one: It cant do widescreen correctly and the graphics dont go beyond 480p, so it can be kind of a pain to watch. However, Sega is currently working on "improving" the game in some way, so they may add these features in the coming months.

But I would suggest you avoid this version for now, stick with GC. Check back occasionally and see if Sega fixes all of the issues.

http://www.speedrun.com/sadx Most of the top runs are PC according to this site... IDK if that'd be what you mean by, or if this is what it means by for PC

Dreamcast > Gamecube > PC by far. When I played competitively I did all my running in the PS3 version, though.

The PC versions, based on the Director's Cut, are far more interesting to speedrun than the original Dreamcast version. They fixed very few glitches when the Director's Cut version came out but introduced far more new ones so you have more tools to use while speedrunning.

Every decent speedrunner uses any of the PC versions for speedrunning.
This one, it's possible to use whichever controller you'd prefer (granted you have some adapter/the usb/ ps/2 version), also disregard the comments about bad textures/messed up widescreen, while I have experienced these they were simply fixed by using a mod that adds higher resolution support, better textures, and fixes some bugs (iirc) here is a steam guide over it some guy wrote. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=299808681&insideModal=1

With how many people replied, you should have gone with this one.

A decent number of replies were too late for me to see in time that were good. Would of otherwise. I'll probably buy it with smash tournament winnings if I get enough money out of that when I start going to those.

Just wait until the spring sale. This game goes on sale for like $1 during each sale. If you own a different version, thats tons of practice time until then.

I may as well add that the steam version of SA2B is perfectly fine. No crazy problems like the ones on this version.

Okay, thanks for notifying me about that.

The Gamecube version is the best one. This one is a lazy port. Want proof? Check this out.
