Achievements are now working.
As the title states, although I cannot confirm if the achievements are retroactive, now is the time to do another full playthrough if you haven't already, I know I will.

GL and HF getting all 130 guys.

EDIT:

After reading through some of the comments, judging from what several people have noted, a full 130 playthrough is required for 100% achievement completion, simply due to the Metal Sonic achievement, this cannot be unlocked any other way than collecting all 130 over again.

I see the other Sega games are on sale. I'm tempted to get Crazy Taxi but I'll need to see if the soundtack is back in it.

Shame that the blue border is still there though :(

Oh, FFS...
SEGA, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO PAINFULLY IDIOTIC? WE DIDN'T NEED ANY F**KING ACHIEVEMENTS, WE NEEDED THE GAME TO ACTUALLY LOOK SOMETHING REMOTELY RESEMBLING GOOD.

You were expecting miracles from a 40mb update?

Personally, I think the game looks amazing.

No, I was expecting this hideous border to be gone for good and the game to be in widescreen. I mean, I could tolerate it if the border was a pretty picture, but for god's sake, it's just a hideous jumbled mess.

Cool, I literally bought the game today and completed it 25 minutes ago...

So the update was for the achievements? Nice, time to replay this game.

While the achievements don't unlock when you start the game despite completing the requirements for some of the achievements, try completing a mission (the mission cards come back when you complete all the missions) and a stage. By completing a mission again after completing all 60 missions, I got the achievement for completing all missions. Then I beat an Action Stage in Trial Mode (after already getting all 130 Emblems) and got 5 more achievements (including the ones for getting all emblems and completing the A Rank Emblems in each stage for each character). By doing this, you don't actually need to start a new game for the 130 Emblems or All Missions Completed achievements if you've already have a save file with those requirements met.

You will, however, need to start a new game to get the achievements for unlocking the other characters and beating the game as Sonic and Super Sonic.

I'm glad, because I really did not want to do Big's A Rank Emblems or that flag collecting mission on Icecap as Tails again.

I'm pretty sure this requires more effort than you think, more than they are willing to bother with for a game this old. That it got an update like this is quite good actually. The reson the border is there is because otherwhise there would be a lot of pop-ups at the end of the screen and would probably require a big rewrite to fix since they haven't done it. They're not dumb, they just won't waste too much effort on very little profit.

There are old tricks for removing it if you so wish though, but not sure if they work after this update or not.

I made a black border, after Devil May Cry 3 was used to ratio 4: 3, fullscreen cute. Achievements - great. Although the HD would be better, but even so well. I apologize for my Google translation. :facepunch:

The PC port from 2004 (this version is a port of a X360 port of PC port. No, seriously) can be modded to support the resolution. If fans can do it, I will accept no reasoning that Sega can't. Dreamcast emulator can make the original Dreamcast release widescreen. Also, making a prettier border costs nothing, unless there's a shortage of Sonic pictures I don't know of, last time I checked there were tons of them.

It looks like you will have to start a new game and get all 130 emblems again to get the achievement for unlocking Metal Sonic if you already unlocked him before the update.
