Chao Garden Crash (no mods installed)
For some reason the game freezes and then crashes whenever I go into any chao garden. Is there any fix for this or am I kinda screwed.

Actually, that is the first thing I did after checking to see if it was a specific chao garden causing it. Unfortunately it still crashed.

Vanilla or modded?

I am going to assume the title didn't give it away, this is a non modded vanilla install of the game.

Oh oops. Specs? Curious if this is a hardware/driver compatibility issue since I’ve seen mentions of this crop up more often in the vanilla Steam version recently (which already has other documented issues with modern hardware).

Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700F 2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

It uses a Nvidia graphics card but I don't think that is an issue.
I'm going to assume that no one has an answer for my question then?

Sorry for the late response, missed your previous post - unfortunately the shoddy vanilla Steam port has known Issues running on modern hardware but they haven't thoroughly been documented, so it's best to share your GPU as well.
Aside from that, if you really want to stick with this game's worst port, try Special K to see if it makes a difference. If you're running into performance issues, it should also resolve that (the framerate limiter has known issues on anything even remotely new, possibly tied to Windows 11/later versions of 10).

Not sure what Special K is besides a breakfast cereal.
The graphics card I have is a 3060 RTX

Search up "Special K PC" - it should show up in the top results. See if that resolves it. If that doesn't, I'd just suggest using PkR's SADX Mod Installer to switch over to the modded 2005 port. Frankly speaking, the vanilla Steam port is what I'd consider to be the worst version of the game. On top of all the bugs and issues this inherited from past ports like the worsened collision detection, broken lighting, resolution-specific bugs in mandatory minigames, etc., the aforementioned compatibility issues combined with the messed up analog stick sensitivity make it really hard to recommend this over any other version.

Fair enough, I will give it a try and see what I can figure out next time I try to play it
