Final Egg (Sonic) Crashing

I've tried playing through the final action stage with Sonic (Final Egg) twice now and it has crashed both times in the same location. Right after the transition from the second part of the level to the third in the first room where there are two sets spiked balls chained together and spinning around right above capsules containing rings, an extra life, and an electric orb. Immediately upon going into the curving hallway at the end of the room, as soon as Sonic reaches the dip right before it goes back up, the game crashes. Is there any particular reason to this and/or a way to fix it?

Vanilla, I haven’t added any mods

Ah, can't help you then. These things seem to happen on certain systems with the vanilla Steam version, and I don't think anyone's been able to narrow down a cause - it's a pretty infamously bad port anyway. Hopefully someone will be able to figure out a fix.

In the meantime, I'd recommend using SADX Mod Installer[sadxmodinstaller.unreliable.network] to convert it to an upgraded 2004 port. Be sure to back up your save beforehand in case you run into any issues, though you shouldn't run into any.

Yea i heard this happens on some systems. It didn't happen to me as i beat the game on the vanilla and had no crashes. Maybe it's an amd nvidia problem or an intel nvidia problem or a problem with intel and amd cards. I'm running a amd nvidia combo for the record.
