[SOLVED] How to transfer savedata to Steam Deck
Hi everybody, I recently started replaying this game. I began on PC, but I would like to be able to continue on the Steam Deck. The problem is that this game doesn't support cloud saves. Does anyone know where the Steam Deck saves data for this particular game, so I can overwrite them? I did save once on deck, so files & folders have been created somewhere and the game finds them and successfully loads the savedata. So, I'm looking for the correct location to copy the files on Steam Deck, but I can't seem to find it.

UPDATE: Eventually, I found out, thanks to the user "Bkyourway". Thanks again for pointing me to the right direction!

<<The saves are located in the following path, no matter where the game is saved (drive, or SD card):

/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/71250/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/SEGA/Sonic Adventure DX/SAVEDATA/

There should be 2 save files, one for the main game and one for the Chao Garden. I noticed that for some unknown reason, the names for the files are different that the ones on Windows. I had to rename the savedata to "SonicAdventure01.snc" and the Chao data to "SonicAdventureChaoGarden.snc" for them to be recognized on the Steam Deck.
For best results, begin a new game on the Steam Deck, just until you can access the first Chao Garden (IF you are interested transferring the progress for that), otherwise, just until the game saves once. Then go to the path above, find the files and see how they are named. Then, before you paste the Windows savefiles, rename them to whatever they are named on Deck and paste there, overwriting them. When you load the file for the first time, the date may appear weirdly, but they will work just fine.
That is all.>>

P.S.: Oh, and I've noticed that if you change the Proton version, save files are mysteriously deleted... So be careful. If you really want to change the Proton version, back up the save files from the above location. Then set the game manually to, say, Proton 7.0-5 where it plays fine and leave it there permanently. Maybe it's best to set a Proton version manually, because it could change automatically in the future and mess with your savedata!

Did you ever manage to find the save file location? I'm having the same issue :(

Google with a search of "sonic adventure dx save location" says:

Windows %USERPROFILE% \ Documents \SEGA\Sonic Adventure DX\SAVEDATA

Steam Play (Linux) <Steam-folder> /steamapps/compatdata/ 71250 /pfx/

I don't currently have the game installed so i cant check personally

Found on the pcgamingwiki website on the results page

Thanks, I'll check it out and I'll post here again whether this is the case. I hope it is!

Good news! I found it! It's more complicated than what Bkyourway found, but it works, so thanks again Bkyourway for pointing me to the right direction!

Good to know that it worked for you too! I'll add a [SOLVED] to the title, just in case anybody else is trying to do the same.
