As for Big, collect as many of his upgrades as you can find. They'll make it slightly more bearable.
With Amy, just keep moving. Luckily for you, she only has about 3 levels total to her story, plus one cool boss fight.
No, I liked her story.
In fact, I wished there had been more levels for her (and less of Big's levels).
Her story in this marked the start of her change, becoming less of a damsel in distress, and more of a heroine.
It goes with what Sonic Battle later showed about her. Because of chasing Sonic all these years, she keeps getting faster and stronger.
It's kinda cool that being around Sonic has inspired Amy to better herself.
To be honest, I even liked Big the Cat...I just didn't like how his levels worked (not to mention I hated how stupid they made him sound in the English version)
He's a laid-back, easygoing fisherman. While he's not exactly a college graduate, he's not stupid either.
I also didn't mind Big, and actually kinda enjoyed the fishing, for what it was. Could have had less levels so as to give Amy and Tails more time to develop, but it wasn't like it was Sonic 06. I suppose it also helps that I feel his laid-back easygoing personality was like myself.
