HELP Game won't run

So I pay 7.99 to play this classic sonic game that I used to play on gc all the time when i was younger, but to my disappointment it wont run anymore. I bought sonic dx and sa2b. First I played sonic dx, and it ran fine. Then I tried out adventure 2 battle, and it also worked fine. When I went back to play dx again now I get an error message saying "windows needs to close the program we'll notify you if we find a solution" or something along those lines. Am i screwed out of eight bucks? What should I do? Is there a solution to this?

Idk why, but uninstalling and reinstalling the game seemed to do the trick. Oddly enough I now have a feeling this all had to do with that one guy's modified config tool that I downloaded just before I started having problems. If the config tool works for you great, but I'm just warning those who haven't downloaded it yet that it may mess up your game. The config tool didn't even work for me so luckily I had a backup for the original config tool but for some reason even after I replaced the modded config tool back with the original one my game still wouldnt start up. To everybody who hasn't downloaded any mods for this game yet, I'd advise you to just stick with the original game with no added mods; simply due to the fact that this is a pretty crappy port that has the chance (like in my case) to mess up if modified. Also, can somebody explain to me the save error that everybody is talking about? My saves are doing okay so far so I'm confused but a lot of people are talking about losing saves? Will this happen later on in gameplay? I really wish steam would've ported this one better. Check out sonic adventure 2 battle if you guys want a better port, plus it has multiplayer split screen unlike many steam games that should (i.e. borderlands; wtf it had split screen on xbox, why not on pc? I was looking forward to killing Crawmerax with my bro split screen but steam crushed my dreams)

No issues with the modified configuration too for me *shrugs*

I just followed the instructions on how to edit the registry and everything was A ok. As for losing saves i always make multiple backups but this hasn't happened to me either.

Lol I didnt read any instructions (facepalm). Thank you Latiran. All I did was replace the original config with the modified one. Im assuming that's not the right way to do it?

First port of call when a game doesn't work: Reinstall. Some of the Steam ports are lazy [ahem Sonic All Stars Racing ahem], but this was ok. As you discovered, things can get messy while trying to mod SADX/SA2B. However, mods work fine with Sonic Generations. Thing is, this is NOT the original PC version, the PC version has a better resolution, but I have no problem with that.

I have a similar problem with SADX, when I try to start SADX, right when the window pops up, a message saying "SADX has stopped working", and I would yell, "It didn't even start!".

Hey man did you try uninstalling and reinstalling? If not maybe try torrenting the game lol. Its illegal but ♥♥♥♥ it I do it a lot and the games work out fine. Just download daemon tools and utorrent and youre set. I recommend piratebay or kickasstorrents but just somehow find the .iso file for sadx 2004 pc edition, dowload the torrent with utorrent, then once the .iso is done dowloading mount it in daemon tools and run the installation setup. Then you can either download a crack for the game (meaning you wont have to worry about using disks). Or you can mount the game in daemon tools every time you wanna play it. Or you can also burn the .iso file to a blank dvd rom or cd rom and play it from there. Anyways, good luck!
