What is the canon origin story of Shadow the Hedgehog?

if i'm correct, initially it was stated that he was a prototype of the ultimate lifeform who was made to help people, some people theorize that he looks how he does cause gerald robotnik found the old ruins that showed super sonic,and modeled shadow after that, although i don't believe it's confirmed.

ok but seriously, the BIOLIZARD was the prototype for Ultimate Lifeform technology, Shadow was the final product

mostly everything else @6YNICAL said is correct, but the Super Sonic thing is a theory (although I do believe it's the most likely cause for Shadow's design)

Gerald did create Shadow to help people, but his memories were altered after Maria's death by Gerald to his wishes, so Shadow could take revenge on humanity

obviously he did remember what Maria's promise was eventually, and was able to use Chaos Control with Sonic in the final stretch to teleport the Space Colony ARK to a safe location, but sacrificed himself.

if you have an nvidia gpu, there is a fix for the speed up, i think you just turn on vsync in the control panel for it

its an image from sonic adventure. u see it in the opening when it flashes through all the characters at the end but its a picture of perfect chaos with the emeralds around him

Isn't this discussion more relevant to Sonic Adventure 2 as Shadow didn't exist at the time of this game

That said Shadow is a creation of Eggman's grandfather who was imprisoned for a long time before Eggman released him.

Shadow isn't a hedgehog but he isn't totally a synthetic creation either, he's a creation that is part hedgehog and part an ancient alien race
