FMVs/CGI Cutscenes Not Working with BetterSADX Mod

I have been using the BetterSADX mod ever since I started playing SADX on Steam, so it honestly took me a while to notice that none of the pre-rendered cutscenes were working throughout the entire game (Intro, Angel Island falling, etc.). When I run the game without the mod loader the intro plays normally, unlike with the mod, where it goes from the SEGA splash screen directly to the title screen. Does anyone have a way of fixing this? I know it might be better to post this on moddb or the Steam Group, but seeing as others have posted their BetterSADX issues here first I thought I would start here too.

BetterSADX actually restores the higher-quality FMVs from the 2004 PC port (one of the few parts of any port of SA1 which are actually enhancements.), so they shouldn't be disappearing. However, I have an idea about what's going on.

Go to the mods folder and post a link to your SADXModLoader.ini.

If you don't know how to do that, here's a small tutorial: Right-click on SADX in your Steam library and click on "Properties."
Then, go to the "Local Files" tab and click on "Browse Local Files". Go to the mods folder and there should be a file named SADXModLoader.ini.

There doesn't seem to be a mod causing this issue. I have found a possible fix on the BetterSADX group forum:

I have fixed it, I had a suspicion it would be some kind of video codec / video decoding software that was causing the issue, it was.

Anyone with SVP (Smooth Video Project), ffdshow and LAV Filters watch out. it's one of them.

If you're using any of those, please disable them and see if FMVs start working.

Yeah I saw that post already. I checked my computer for them and found LAV softwares on it, but I don't know anything about them. I tried disabling all of the input formats on them but it didn't change anything. I might try deleting them to see if that helps. I really appreciate you helping me out on this.

One more thing, open the config manager for the Dreamcast Conversion mod and see if "Disable video enhancements" is enabled. If it is, try disabling it.

Okay uninstalling LAV filters brought the intro back so that seemed to have worked, but I'll do that as well thanks.

I tried uninstalling that to fix the same problem I had, but it meant I wouldn't be able to play other videos! Is there any other codec or something I can use to get around that?

I doubt there are any other solutions that are this simple.. What other videos are you talking about?

It just means that you can't play videos which use that codec. Widespread formats like MP4 are integrated into Windows.

I'm having this exact same issue, and I removed the LAV codecs from my computer.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have the same issue. None of the rendered cutscenes play for me even the intro. The only mods I was using were the ones that came with the mod loader.

Did you try that? If that doesn't work I have no idea.

Update on my post following the advice with the LAV filters and deleting them worked for me, all cutscenes are back! thanks for the help.

Hey, sorry to dig up a two year old thread, but I'm running into a similar issue, all FMV cutscenes just skip for me, and I don't know where the LAV Filters are. Are they specifically in the SADX files or in the files of the Dreamcast Conversion mod?
