Also get BetterSADX. (choose BetterSADX + Dreamcast Conversion in the BetterSADX installer because the Dreamcast version is the best version of the game.)

And also, I WAS pressing jump mid-air. not spindash. just to make that clear.
my computer told me the "unrecognised app" could be harmful, so i dont think i'll use bettersadx.
heres a 25 article wordpress blog about every little thing it does wrong: https://dreamcastify.wordpress.com/
Antiviruses generally say that about any .exe you try to run.
Even official ones tend to set them off.
That's actually one of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle's problems: that when you try to run the game, often an antivirus will falsely read SA2's sonic2app.exe as a virus and delete it around time the Sega logo comes up, crashing the game and deleting it.
I've used BetterSADX myself, and can tell you it's safe.
You could actually install the files yourself, but it's much, much easier to use the BetterSADX's .exe to do the hard work for you.
And less chance of mistakes happening.
But again, antiviruses tend to panic and hate .exe files that aren't commercial.
also, Ive figured out the issue. knuckles can jump, and dig. sonic can homing attack. i no longer need help, and just because i want to make this clear, i was, and am, pressing the jump button to homing attack, not the gosh darn action button.
thank you, and good morning.
BetterSADX is better for Steam users who use the Steam forums as the community is centered around Steam, while PkR's mod installer is better for users of the 2004 PC port and users who don't use the Steam forums.
Fair enough.
I personally only used BetterSADX out of curiosity (and because it restored the Game Gear games to it).
Although I made a point of NOT choosing the Dreamcast conversion mod, as I've never played the Dreamcast version.
I played the Gamecube version.

Although word of warning: If you get The Sims 3 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords here on Steam... you definitely NEED mods for them.
(The biggest mods for them fix a LOT of bugs and glitches that can mess up both games royally)
With Sims 3, it's recommended to get the Nraas ErrorTrap and Overwatch mods at minimum (which can stop bugs that cause horrifying lag, and also helps keep your save file from being corrupted)
And with Star Wars KotOR 2, the TSLRCM mod (available on the Workshop) is HIGHLY recommended as it fixes no less than 500 glitches, and restores some content that got cut.
