How does this game have very positive reviews?
The game is completely terrible. It's designed bad, it plays bad, it controls bad. Practically everything about this game is bad.

The pinball thing was cool though. Just kidding, that was bad too.

Sorry but the game isn't visually appealing because the Dreamcast is too modern to have that retro low poly charm

Modern?! The Dreamcast is over 20 years old now, and while I don't find most of its games to be as appealing as most PS2 classics (granted, it's a more powerful console and came out afterwards), some of them have a distinct look and feel that literally screams "SEGA" to me and a lot of people that's a bit hard to explain. That's the retro charm to the Dreamcast - they look like a lot of 3D arcade games that you can play at home without spending coins every round. It's not low poly, but still charming for different reasons.

I was elaborating on why people prefer Spyro’s graphics over Sonic’s even to this day and that’s likely because of its art direction caused by the technical limitation of the PlayStation which is now seen as a creative visual style.

Sonic Adventure would never be seen that way. None of the games from the DC/PS2/GC/XBOX generation would be seen this way. You can’t really make a game and try to imitate how it would look if it was released on the PS2 because your game would be criticised for looking cheap or worse, an Early Access asset flip.
Despite this, games from the sixth generation are now considered as retro games and being products of their time, there’s a certain charm to these games. Playing these games now is like going back to a time where computer graphics was starting to actually resemble the real world.

You’re the first person I’ve seen to call PS1 graphics “appealing”. Everyone else sees it as a limitation. Including in Spyro, where the models aren’t exactly great. For the time it was fine though. Adventure was actually much more appealing since it wasn’t stuck on PS1. There’s a reason they completely remade Spyro instead of just porting it.

And yet you’re the first person I’ve seen who argues they’re not.
NES, GB and SNES graphics were initially held back by hardware limitations and yet fast forward to today, we’ve seen indie games imitating those graphics despite our technology being much more advanced because people have grown appreciation to the retro visual style known as “Pixel Art”.
The visual style of low-poly N64/PS1-style graphics have grown popularity over the past few years too and recently, there was a big compilation of horror-themed PS1-styled indie games that got released last month. https://hauntedps1.itch.io/demodisc2020
There’s even a game in development as we speak which was clearly inspired by the Spyro games (only because it was originally a fan game) that is using the same PS1-style graphics.
https://gamejolt.com/games/ZeraMA/238357

I may be the first person you ever spoke to who still appreciates PS1-style graphics but I’m certainly not the only one who does. Yes, the graphics were originally a result of hardware limitations but now some people uses the limitations as a way to challenge themselves.
Having imposed constraints can boost creativity, you know.
Adventure was actually much more appealing since it wasn’t stuck on PS1.
No ♥♥♥♥ mate. Obviously if you were living back then, the 3D graphics shown in sixth generations would blow someone’s mind by how incredibly impressive the superior graphics looks. But we’re not speaking with the mindset of living in the the beginning of the 21st century and seeing how graphics have improved from blockiness to resemble a bit more like the real world for the first time, we’re looking back at the graphics in retrospect. This doesn’t need to be said but everyone here knows that the sixth gaming generation graphics is technically superior than the fifth generation. We know, I know, it’s a fact but that’s not the point.
Again, you don’t need to convince me that the graphics seen in PS2 games are technically superior compared to the PS1 games. But that won’t stop people from preferring some old games’ inferior graphics compared to newer games’ graphics for whatever reason. Seriously, there’s more people who prefers the aesthetic of Conker’s Bad Fur Day (N64) than its remake, Conker: Live and Reloaded (Xbox).
There’s a reason they completely remade Spyro instead of just porting it.
You think I don’t know? Obviously a AAA company is not going to go back and imitate low poly graphics as its main art direction, that’s too risky for them, especially if they’re remaking a game that is supposed to introduce a classic game to a newer and larger audiences.
Besides, Sony is already selling emulated versions of the trilogy so porting them is unnecessary and simply remastering them would just be an insult when the Crash trilogy had a recent remarkable remake.

You know that indie horror games with PS1 graphics are made that way because their is a certain uncanny valley affect with them right? Pixel art is appealing because they look like drawings, low poly PS1 graphics are appealing today in horror for their weird and low detail environments creating a tone.

Yeah, I would say that while PS1 graphics is gaining popularity as its own unique visual style, it’s certainly a popular choice as a art direction when it comes to horror games for the reasons you mentioned.

Lost In Vivo is a good example

I always found PS1 visuals appealing because of its low poly, pixelated look to the 3D environments, character models, etc. without any bilinear filtering. A lot of PS1 textures have a surprising amount of detail to them as well, such as on Spyro's model where his skin almost looks realistic in a cartoony platformer. Crash Bandicoot Warped is one of the best looking games released in 1998 due to experienced developers taking full advantage of the hardware. A lot of 2D games on PS1 still look nice to this day, which is more than I can say about 2D games on the N64 which do exist.

A lot of what I said can also apply to the original DS as well, with Super Mario 64 DS being the best example of this on the DS. Even looking in retrospect, I still find a lot to love about this style of graphics.

It's aged a lot better than the N64, I'll say that much.

There are actually reasons for this, some of which I can actually explain in ways hardly anyone else can. I'd actually rather look at Mario Party 2 on N64 over Super Mario Party on Switch, but that has nothing to do with nostalgia or retro appeal - it has everything to do with presentation. Despite the Switch game having better graphics, the N64 games actually look way better overall. This isn't the only example either - there are so many more cases of this which are too many to list.

Typically when games tries to look realistic, they will age much worse than games with cartoony art styles.
This doesn’t just apply to games released in fifth generation consoles (PS1/N64), it can also be applied to the sixth generation (DC/PS2/GC/Xbox) and even the seventh (PS3/X360/Wii).
Heck, we may have reached the peak of high quality models and textures now but some games today may not look as good in the next decade when graphics would be even more technologically advanced.

Thats true. Theres a reason why 06 looks bad, but Adventure still looks decent. The anime style and colorful environments stand out more

Even for 2006 it didn't look very good, not because of the graphics (they're fine for 2006), but the overall asthetics and presentation. Compare that to Heroes, which didn't have the best graphics in the world, but the colourful asthetics and strong presentation more than made up for that.

One of the things I loved about a lot of 90s and even early to mid 2000's platformers is that the art direction had a good balance of both realistic and cartoony graphics which brings out the best of both worlds, making them stand out even more and ageing a lot better as a result.

The 7th gen will probably age the worst because of the grity games that came out in this era...

Seriously why modern games cannot be as colorful as the good old ones from the 80-90's?

PS: Sonic Mania looks better than Forces so it may make Sega understand what fans want to see

The first part of this is correct, but saying Forces looks bad is ridiculous. The way it looks is probably none of the best parts about it
