i have been trying to make a shadow chao but i am going to need some help

Technically, there IS. But like the Sonic chao, it's not an OFFICIAL character chao like the Tails/Knuckles/Amy chao. A Shadow chao is the result of making a Normal Two-Tone Dark/Run chao (achievable with 4-7 Dark Fruit (no Hero Fruit) and frequent use of Run-focused animals until chao evolves), and then pushing its Run<>Power balance all the way towards Run (while keeping its Swim<>Fly balance as close to 0 as possible, making the Chao a Dark/Run/Run chao) and keeping it there so that the chao's "spikes" and colors resemble Shadow. It can be a bit difficult to manage if you're not paying attention, and the fact that there's no chaos drives in SADX means that you won't be able to have a shadow chao without animal parts without third-party tools (ex: Fusion's Chao Editor. Very powerful. Handle with care if you decide to use it). Still, it's the only way you can get the unofficial Shadow chao.

Speaking of which, you can get a Sonic Chao in the same way, but with a Normal/Run/Run chao instead. There's also a "Nights" chao which is just a Normal Two-Tone Normal/Fly/Fly chao. Official character chao are only obtainable with third-party tools (Fusion's Chao Editor recommended for ease of use and implementation).

Shadow doesn't appear in Sonic Adventure, but the SADX Chao system is just the SA2B Chao system because SA2 was ported to the GameCube before SA1, so Chao can not only draw pictures of Shadow but you can also make Shadow Chao.
