Consoles / cheats?

Really liked this game, until I discovered that you can only have a single active play-through at a time, and I discovered this when I started a new game to try one of the other factions and without any warning my previous save game was overwritten and all my hours of work was gone, now I am not even sure I want to play it anymore having to basically start from scratch...

Now I am hoping that there is some console commands or cheats that will make it possible to sort of recreate what I lost, does anything like that exist?

I don't know about a console but you might want to look into how it saves game progress, maybe you can take backups if it's a file somewhere, and if you can get into the file format and structure then maybe you can do some creative engineering with it.

I did find the save files, they are however not in a format that I can work with

There are also all these 3rd party tools, but they don't seem to do what I am looking for, not to mention I don't really trust this kind of stuff

Fearless has some pointer tables. You can also try the epic table version.
