Reasons:
1- The game is repetative as is on it's own, and gaining everything is only a matter of time. Most people don't 100% a game. You know what brings a lot of those players who put a game down back? Mods.
Fact: Even classic games that have a mod community are still to this day playing, people still buy, people still put in time and effort. Having mod support or official mod tool kits for your games is a financial smart move long term.
2- Modding takes a large workload off the developers when it comes to more content, because modders can make their own content given the right tools.
Fact- Sales for what were niche games skyrocket when official mod tools are releases )Example: Kingdom Come Deliverance. Games that start off with modding support from the very beginning gain a massive network and playerbase (Any ElderScrolls or FO game. RimWorld. etc.)
3: This game uses UE4, and thus like other survival builder games (ARK, Conan Exiles, etc) having an Offical Modkit would open up many possibilities for professional and hobbyist modders who know how to use UE4 ModKits.
Fact- Not only does this mean high profile overhauls (The kind of mods that get people to buy a game they didn't want in the first place), but opens up learning for those who want to get into using UE4 for modding.
Think about it. I know it takes time to implement mod support, but if you don't have it then this game will just die off in another couple of years. It has so much potential, and so much to offer given the right updates and support.
(Also, clones need to be more useful and more commands to give would be nice. Also, more interaction with our crew and interpersonal storytelling.)
Lauren, is team 17 still developing this game or is it dead?
Just to give you a idea, the facebook and twitter page hasn't had a post since 08/2020
There aren't any updates planned right now, but if that changes we'll share the news here and on the game's social channels.
Just letting you know, this cost you a sale. YouTube recommended me a video, game looked cool and had a great idea, was about to buy it, then saw it was one of those timed exclusives Epic threw Fortnite money at.
Not looking to start an argument - heck, I'm not even subscribing to the thread, just providing feedback.
Please do listen to the mod support aspect. this WILL give you more money in the long term.
i have unpacked your files successfully with UnrealPakTool from GitHub, and i can see all the game files in the .PAK file.
I was trying to see if there was a quick way to change the reactor settings.
What i can see however, is the faint possibility to mod this game without mod official support, but this should also mean that an official steam supportet workshop should not be impossible from your side.
please consider it :)
Workshops improve integrity and long lasting sales : )
Edit: a good example in a similar genre is X3. X4 is out and X3 is still getting worked on by modders and as a result it hasn't fallen into obscurity. I think enough time has passed regarding the epic controversy that there might be a lot of modders who would like to support the game. Please don't let this go the way of Hellgate: London where it was ported over, updated a few times and then dev team just seemingly vanished without releasing a mod kit... Either way, if you do your don't, I wish you all well regardless, I know the last year and this one have been very harsh on a global level.
It just needs workshop and coop to be fair...
