Power
Ok so I've hit my max amount of reactors that I am able to build. Is there any way to upgrade them or do I have to find a merchant with reactor 2 or something or have I hit my peak power?

No depending on your galaxy setting you can have up to 7 reactors. What I found was I was adding to many corridors and that was eating up my available power.

If you have crew assigned to the reactors you get a little more power out of them, I think 10%?

I'll send a screenshot, don't judge I'm a newbie but also I was wondering if u can change those variables after starting a play through, like how many reactors etc.

No you'll need more than that you'll find that almost everything drops biomass and you'll quickly fill up the biotank space.

finish refining all those resources you have collected and you can remove some of those deposits. As for the screenshots you can press M to cycle through the display types.

Also if you've already done one genesis I suggest starting over and changing the galaxy settings to allow you to have 7 reactors instead of 5.

Try and keep your clone types to 1 or 2 because to unlock clones for another play through you have to have half your ship of that clone type when settling a genesis. Following this try and look for only tier 3 plants as they give you 4 slots each for crew members. Then under the floor of greenhouses you can add a module that will allow for an extra worker there. so 3 workers per greenhouse 5 slots for plants all tier 4 if possible giving you 20 slots for a single clone type if you focus on one clone type. This way you could actually remove one of the greenhouses. When removing greenhouses you cant keep the plants.

+4 power if the reactor is manned, raising max power (with 5 reactors) from 300 to 320.

Yeah, but (aside from going for the "collect 1000 biomass" achievement), it doesn't really matter if your tanks are full and you can't collect more, does it? You need five per clone for replacements, and one per 50 health for healing, and that's it as far as I can tell.

Personally, I don't think I'd want to run with less than two tanks, because I want to at least be able to pop 5 new clones at a time when I build a new quarters, but I don't see much point to having more than that, aside from temporarily adding a throwaway tank to let me collect the biomass off a wrecked ship so that the galaxy map will show it as "cleared" and I know not to go back to it again.

The 7 reactor limit is annoying.
If you really want more, AND are ok with using memory editor tools (aka hacking), you can change the limit during galaxy setup - just fiddle with the max reactors slider until you locate the memory value in tool, then overwrite some reasonable value (say 100), then back out of the screen without touching anything else, and begin game. It gets persisted in save.

Please be aware that big ships can create problems and make the game run incorecct.

I have not run into any problems while running ship using over 1000 energy units. The game is not graphically intensive. Unless there is some technical reason (underlying storage layout, module count limit), it shouldn't be a problem to have a big ship.

How do you manage a large ship?

I have trouble as it is with 6 reactors, even with a good layout.
