As for Living Bombs item. This is mostly the item (Along with Weasel pet, which prevents the player from sharing) I would recommend to avoid in 3 or 4 Players. It makes the game miserable in the rooms with spikes. Because not only the player can take damage when enemy explodes in close range, but it pushes the player at the opposite direction, leading to the spike, which takes the whole heart away. And once this item has been collected, you can't get rid of it.
That's probably about it for Level Up system. It just unlocks items at the start. I guess they figured out, that for skilled player it would make the game too easy.
About the balance issue. I think this is focused more on unexperienced players. In the 4 Player game, not once it was noticed that 1 or 2 of them are rather careless on their Health. Either they run too fast and once they enter the next room, they're stepping on the spikes and mostly die by that.
So, the skilled players with 1 heart left are on "little quest" searching room by room for the heart to drop (Or refill the healing ability depends on the class) so you can revive the team mates, which later on turns out that all your effort goes to waste, because the revived players with just half of heart mostly cannot survive at least 20 seconds. Which is the reason why I'm reviving the players when the boss is defeated during the fight.
I think the Pet Companions are the nice idea, but some of them makes the game a cakewalk. Perhaps the game needs to have a silent difficulty increasement depending on how many helpers player has collected or depending on how any of the team members didn't die so often.
(About the Stone Golem. For some reason this boss has a weird issue with thrown rocks. It's like the graphics for it and the hitbox itself are two separated objects. The rocks still hurts you, but the explosion comes out of nowhere. I'm not sure if it's a bug or that's intentional to make the boss harder, because it existed since earlier builds of the game and it's still there.)
You dont notices it because per level its not much.
If you want to know every char stats from L1>L20 I show you them.
