postal 4 is a shadow of postal 2
going from postal 1 to 2 is an excellent progression for a series, RWS managed to create a disturbing twinstick shooter then loosely translate some of those ideas into the iconic goofy fps world we know as postal 2. and ofcourse, forget about 3 (rws had essentially no involvement)

what's really disappointing about postal 4 is how clear it is that the developers simply looked at the success and charm of postal 2, then said "lets do that again on more modern dev tools". it seeks only to profit from what another game did right... and with poor, unoptimized mimmickry at that. it's existence is like saying "here's my crap gta 3 remake on an RTX supporting engine! so it must be good!"

if they're going to make a postal 4, why can't it be a sincere attempt at a new game like from 1-2? it seems that they've allowed postal 2's notoriety to define what the entire game is and should always be now

Because it's different team? Most of the og team has left. The current team is from Paradise Lost era. But yeah, you got a point. Postal series has to evolve some day I think. New genre while staying in the style of Postal. I don't mind if it does not happen though. It's their IP
I believe, it was a risk going for a really new genre or differ too much from Postal 2. Now that it started to mature a bit, and especially with Postal Brain Damaged, they can hopefully start doing more risky and great changes in genres.
However, while i love the franchise, i would prefer for them to try to diversify into new IP's.

Yeah, new IP would be nice. They have been doing Postal for years. I would love to see what else they can do with their minds

so far it looks like a shadow of postal 2 because its just missing more content and polish, but they are working on it so thats fine

Paradise lost really stepped up what postal 2 did and I hope with enough work they can finish this game too

Not being enough like P2 is still one of the largest complaints the game has though? There is no option to make both sides happy really, and some things like the story are already locked in and can't be changed.

oh i agree 100% about the largest complaint, if it was anywhere near as good as postal 2 then it'd be totally cool and id probably of paid full price for it

thus, the main reason i talk about it trying to be postal 2 as a problem is because it does so poorly at being what it wants to

Yeah, P2 and PL are way better than P4, wich is not a bad game, just a mhe game and a not that good (or even bad ?) Postal...

What I hate about P4 the most is the Dude himself. He's not the nihilistic psychopath going after his own business anymore, now he's this joyful hobo stereotype with added violence, constant pushover for other characters to boss around.

On top of that, strong Magenta Game vibes from the art design, and idiotic dialogue where every single line has to be a quip completely ruined the game for me.

its probably not intended, but it really seems like its parodying itself on a layer that the devs would be ashamed themselves to admit

And if they actually are, they're doing it in a terribly inept way. It's like, being deliberately annoying is still being annoying.

It's a game characterized by neon-brigh colours like magenta or cyan, characters are quippy caricatures and gameplay is standardized and simplified.

In other words, something that's meant to appeal to 'kids these days'.

i like postal 4's postal dude. he's a bit older now and just trying to chill out after things haven't quite gone how he's hoped. it happens

Yeah, why make a character be young when he isn't
