How do i pull out a gun with the petition in my hands?

In the trailer for the new day, we can clearly see that dude uses a uzi to shoto civvie when he doesnt want to sign the petition but how can i do it? To me it seems like i can either have a gun or the petition but not both.

Bring up your weapon wheel with the petition out (defaults to the middle mouse button), should let you swap to a sidearm

All that did was put away the clipboard and pull out the pistol. I have tried everything i can think of. How do you do this? I saw Mike J doing it in his live stream yesterday.

You have to select a weapon with A and D.

This is NOT intuitive at all, I hope they fix this...

Yes, I got here trying to figure this out as well. A little tutorial would help... OR something more immersive, like NOT trying to one-up P2.
