You probably got killed by an NPC, they look just like players. Also pvp protection works only till level 15, so after you reach level 15 you cannot disable pvp.

Also depends weather your on pvp server or pve server
because unless you change to pvp in
your pda you will stay pve
or if you enter the canyon at lvl 20+
then it,s auto pvp.

if you're playing on a pve server\no pk it's just the canyon that's pvp, but players will rarely shot at lest the few times i've had to do some pve quests, tho i got out really fast

ps soon as you go out of the canyon you can turn off pvp

nope it autos pvp in the canyon at anylevel
