Makarov better than the TT?

When I first started I didn't really pay attention to the damage of the makarov so I just sold it for the TT and moved on. But Ive made a new char recently and it seems that the Makarov performs better and also has HP ammo with helps even more. Is it just me or is the Makarov better than the TT?

Normally you want to use AP rounds because they penetrate better, HP bullets have to be "well aimed" because of the soft spots of a target, this will be more crucial at higher levels

This all depends on the monster you are shooting at, and which part of the monster you hit.

All monsters have a well-armored spot, and a soft weak spot.

HP rounds do more damage to unarmored spots.

A well armored part will almost completely deflect bullets with low penetration such as HP rounds. You will need a weapon / ammo with higher penetration.

As you progress through the game, you will find enemies with higher armor, which will require the penetration of a TT to do decent damage.
