There's no way to repair at the mine, you can/should have small repairs kit with you

i "can/should have small repairs kit with you"?

you're right... it is my mistake for assuming the only mine in our known universe, with the only people who know how to use a furnace and forging tools (also the only people on the known planet that own either pieces of equipment) would know how to repair anything...

and while i'm ranting.. how come no one on the planet knows how to fix a pick axe?
we can make complex ballistic armor plating, but we can't fix a pickaxe?

It's reasonable to assume there would be a repairman at the mine, but sadly there isn't one. Come to think of it, they're actually hard to come by.

And carrying various repair kits is a good practice. I don't but on more than one occassion (such as doing a bunker mission), I certainly wish I had brought one with me. Footwear wears out exceptionally fast with rats, bugs, and dogs nipping at your heels.

This is a true shame and I wish we could. I'd rather not blow 1k on a new "Advanced Pickaxe" when mining materials with low drops (eg, precious metals).

It's a game, not a realism sim. Having a repairman in the center of the map isn't good balance. It's the same reason they give the worst sale prices.

actually, having the repair in the middle of the map IS balance. the definition of not balanced, would be having the only trader for the foreseable future being in the starter town, all the way on one end of the map.. you know.. like it is currently set up.

I'm sorry but that's just not correct. The value of the repairman in the center of the map would exceed that of any other repairman in the game. It would not be in balance with any other.

in my opinion you need a way to travel quickly to the mine as well as did with the swamp

you can buy repair kits there at the mine... also carrying multiple? all the extra weight?! ew! Lvl up your repair skill so you don't go through a whole repair kit all the time and you'll end up saving alot of money, not getting stuff repaied by the npc's anyways.

as it should be.
the starter town should not be your main point of repair for most of the game.
the miners are neutral, and at the center of all other factions, there is no reason not to have a repair station there.
i promise you, it is the definition of balance. in fact if the devs were smart, here is exactly what they would do...
they would remove all but armor plates, pick axes, medical and food from the miner vendor and add the repair while restricting the ability of that private storage to hold ammo. it would allow people to camp mine like they already do, giving them the option to repair their gear, but requiring them to go to a real town to buy ammo.

you should level up your repair proficiency ... even 3-4% proficiency is cheaper to repair stuff on your own then pay the npc.

buy stash slots at different towns and buy repair kits // repair gear // stash the repair kit in stash // when your repair kit durability gets low you can carry them with you on your travel for the "on the go maintenance" otherwise just stash them

make a habbit to store repair kits / campfires / wood / coal / food at every town and be self sufiicient :)

This is a brilliant idea, I wish I had thought of this sooner. Thank you for sharing!

this is all true, doesn't explain why there is no repair at the mine though. logically, in life and in game it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to not have some one capable of repairing things at the encampment that literally revolves around making things out of metal from scratch.
FlamingAnus May 7, 2018 @ 10:14am
if anything, remove the repair from the starter town completely and put it in the miners encampment.
what are you repairing before you're aksed to go to the mine anyway? your pistol, once, maybe assuming you don't switch to the free one they give you, or buy another weapon. maybe your level0 shoes, but i'm not entirely sure they should be allowed to be repaired anyway.

Strangely no. Not sure if/when it will be implemented.
