Buddy Bee Honey question

Does anything happen if you don't use it and keep it in your inventory?
The entire reason you went out to get it was so that the Mom character would bake a cake using it.
Does that happen if you resist the temptation to use it and hold onto it? Am I being stupid for holding onto it?

Holding on to it does pay off. But now I'm nervous about whether it will continue to pay off if I continue to hold on to it, haha.

Turns out you get a cake that gives +3 to all stats if you don't eat the honey.

Great! I had one save just before taking the honey. I feel bad for using a "guide", but anyway its ok, is not like the game is hard (though im really liking the combat).

I tried seeing if there was a way for me to get the honey from the shallow pool after defeating the queen, but it seems that I am unable to get some. Did I miss a jar or something? I hope I didn't miss something important or obvious.

Check the door to the right of the Queen's throne, I think you'll find what you're looking for.
