All joking aside, what level should I be at? I can get him down to about half health but he simply overpowers me...

Do you mean the Mutt, the boss of Mute Notes? You need to use the in-game names so people know what you're talking about.

LOL No, Mutt. So I think my characters are a bit underleveled at 13 & maybe buy some new equipment for them?

13 is a little underleveled, yes. Did you do the horror dungeon in Fermata Forest?

The miasma may also be what's giving you trouble. It does a lot more damage than the Sick status and can creep up on you if you're not paying attention. If Helga's slower than the enemy, try having her use Comforting Smile every turn even if you're not hurt, as a precaution.
