How does the toy box dungeon works?

There is a room in the mansion of Legato with three toy boxes. When you open them, one let you enter on a (randomized?) dungeon full of toy boxes and mimics. I beated the boss at the end and i stole all his treasures while in the battle. I also opened some toy boxes with shiny rubies, which increase the amount of money you earn at the end of the dungeon. But at the end, i didnt earn one single dollar (the items were worth it though). So how does this work exactly?

You should have gotten some money from that. The boss itself doesn't drop money, but there's a message afterward saying that you've earned x amount of dollars; did you get that?

I also got the message saying Jimmy found 0 dollars from it after opening all those toyboxes. I actually thought that was part of the joke and was too amused to get upset over it. Was I supposed to Grift/Shakedown the Gold Statue, like in the Heart Prison battle?

Yes i got that message but it said i found 0 dollars. As i said, i stole all the treasures from the statue and also opened some shiny rubies boxes, so maybe its a bug.
