Worms Ultimate Mayhem

Worms Ultimate Mayhem

Game will not launch
Purchased Worms Ultimate Mayhem in the Steam Exploration Sale. Downloaded and installed. Launcher runs, but as soon as I click the Play button, the launcher closes and does not launch the game.

While the game was downloading, I noticed a WormsMayhem.exe file in the Steam Downloads folder, but it didn't make the transfer. When I try to validate the files from Steam, it just gets stuck in Update Queued. I hit Play in Steam, and it brings up the Preparing to Start Game window, it starts a download and immediately closes, and doesn't launch, even with the Launch as Soon as Download Completes box checked.

Perhaps something broke in the download? System specs as follows:

Win7 Home Premium x64
AMD FX-9590
2x Nvidia GTX 770 4GB in SLI configuration
16GB DDR3 1866
Installed on Samsung EVO 750GB SSD

UPDATE 7 Dec 2014:

Finally, after several attempts at downloading, deleting and removing the WormsXHD folder, I got the WormsMayhem.exe file. The Launcher loads, but as soon as I hit the Play button in the launcher, it closes but the game doesn't start. Upon attempting to run the WormsMayhem.exe file in the game folder, I get the following error:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Attempting to run the file as Admin (although my user is admin) with WinXP SP2 compatibility mode does nothing. As listed above, my version of Windows is 64-bit.

Good morning all,

Could you please ping over your DxDiag information links by following the steps on our How to report a problem thread.

Once I've got these, I'll take a closer look into what could be causing this.
fRaGbAiT the oRiGiNaL, I'll respond to your e-mail right now as well with some recommendations. Thanks for send your DxDiag into the support account.

All the best,

Thank you Ben, I appreciate your email. Elite, if you are subscribed to this discussion, be aware that Ben had me check the following:

That my graphics drivers to ensure they are up to date and WHQL certified (They are, I use the nVidia GeForce Experience to keep my drivers up-to-date)

To check that I'm not participating in any Steam Beta programs (I'm not)

And finally, to try and run the game in Compatibility Mode (Did not specify any compatibility versions, but I tried XP SP3 and Vista. Also tried running as administrator, none worked, still gave the error message)
