Which is better? Neverwinter nights 1 or neverwinter nights 2?
I am wondering which of the two are worth a pick at full price, what are the difference between the two games? Which one do you recommend ?

NWN 1 - And Diamond actually beats EE, except Beamdog managed to block GOG's sale of the Original game, forcing the aged dying multi-players to convert over to EE.
NWN2 and EE are on par with each other in my eyes.
Not great, Over priced , and basic garbage ...

Only reason I got EE was a sale, and checked it out to compare to Diamond , but because player counts dropping off in Diamond , and is no longer for sale ( hence no new players coming in) , have since had to swallow down the vile, and convert over to EE too.

NWN2- looks nicer on the surface, but multi-player is crap.
The clowns at Bioware, actually ignored PW/Multi-player popularity ( because they weren't making money on that, and no one bought their DLC like "modules" of utter single player s.h.i.t. )
The toolset in 2 is attrocious. Modding ( haks) also royal pains to work with/into.

Of course, BOTH Bioware, and Beamdog are NOT role-playing people or developers, they are game makers only.
It's very obvious , they are clueless, and bank on the clueless gamers that find the linear , cheesey narrated, often cliche and badly put together SP junk "fun".

RPGs should be MORE than leveling systems, mechanics, and combat based play , it requires interaction, imaginative choice, and OMG what a concept... ROLE-PLAYING!!!! It's got to be multi-player. From persistant worlds, or DM'd small sessions.
Anything else, is just simply... garbage.

NWN1 is one of the worst games ever made. NWN2 is unanimously considered the greatest game ever made.

Yes, the OP picked the worst response, especially since online RPGs are among the WORST RPGs in general. In the PC realm, single player RPGs are way better than half-assed stuff like MMOs or NWN1.
ok.

HAHAHA....funny how I have thousands of hours on NWN and NWN:EE, with pretty much ALL of that time played offline as a Single Player RPG.

Different folks like different things and thats okay. Some mmo's have amazing stories. Look at ff14. It has a wonderful story overall. Would the story have been even stronger as a single player rpg? In this case I would think not, since you don't launch four expansions for a single player rpg. Of course like all opinions its subjective.

Unanimously considered? What utter nonsense you talk. You obviously do not understand what unanimous means. You need to buy a dictionary before you go making idiotic comments.

NWN1 is almost certainly one of the longest (if not the longest) community supported games ever in terms of player-made content, thanks to the in-depth toolset and mod support, so foolish comments such "the worst game ever made" makes you look very ignorant indeed. :steamfacepalm:

Thousands? Good lord, you know BioWare actually has GOOD single-player RPGs like Mass Effect, or Dragon Age Origins, or Baldur's Gate that are way better than the pale imitation NWN, right?

I know there are a few MMO exceptions, but generally, MMOs feel like RPG lite to me. Something is added with friend, but something is missing in mechanics and world and story.

Apparently some people subscribe to a game's forum on Steam just to talk trash about it.

Anyway ...

Can't be THE longest, because Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures (1993) community is still alive as well, and even today occasionally new modules are released. But definitely one of the longest and most popular, agreed. :)

NWN started in 1991. Although the BioWare one is different and came later, the original WAS an online RPG on AOL. I still have old GamePros with the ads.

Huh I didn't know that either. But yep found the wiki for it. Ran for 7 years. Not bad all things considered.

This whole thread is pointless anyway. Curse of the Azure Bonds is better than both NWN and NWN2 combined! Go play that!

True, but that doesn't count towards the longevity of the community around Bioware's NWN.

Yeah, I guess if it stopped running in 98 it doesn't count...

Yep

I can't remember when exactly the first NWN vault was set up but I think it wasn't long after NWN1 came out. I remember it was a hive of activity even back then, along with Bioware's own NWN scripting forums.
