Do they have an implact? Other than having a close place to go and more chances of a defend mission, I don't see any impact but maybe someone here pays more attention and can answer better.
from a mechanics viewpoint, a base defense is just an activation. you have the choice of easy, medium, or hard. where as the assault missions, you have to increase region threat in order for the bases to be upgraded.
if you don't want a lot of high level FNiX bases around your world, build bases.
i should also mention the loot you can get from containers inside the FNiX bases are generally pretty decent. it's been a while since i've played, so some of these things may have been bugg.......i mean changed
I decided to start a fresh, its changed a lot, " plus I have forgotten a lot ", I have done only two base defence "medium ", and survived, and taken two FNIX bases down, the grind for wood and things to keep the bases fixed is pretty grindy, 3/4 of the way through level 24, so I can start getting some experimental's, the game does not explain a lot on the mechanics of certain things.
First, CP turn to FNIX bases in a region you are hunting and destroying machines, so region points affect timing on the bases. I hunt for reapers and have the region timing down so I jump into a region I am close to a spawn from a rival/reaper after my first region points and up to a few minutes in the region. Not long after there is a machine spawn there will be a base spawn. So I go after all the machines I can find, and yes I know of hot spots, till the base spawns then jump to it and destroy it with prejudice, so no mercy. I go for the gen sets then the main thing. most the time only thing more I do is destroy a machine or two when the main thing calls them in. Speeds up shield drop and I aim for it and nothing else, even if I drop health.
Some regions and at times, destroying the base will drop the region points enough to drop a level...I don't look at exact points because I want the region level to stay high, destroying everything till it gets 21+. So destroying bases does affect region points but I would guess having the machines destroy one would cost more region points than a player destroying it.
If I was to build a base or bases, I would get the basics of defending one first before investing a ton of resources to make it a playground. The old base defense, a player just has to have have all weapons full mags and know which weapon to use as the machines got closer. This was a lot easier with a good team but doable solo. not letting the machines visit for to long to do much damage to the base. Where between waves most damage is repaired and weapons reloaded to full mags again. Which means reserve resources to repair and rebuild. Small bases with basic defense and learn WHERE more weapons need to be(were you take the most damage) and stronger walls and so on. Base weapons take care of what you and the players miss, so help them by not letting to much past you.
For example wood is now much harder to find. Simple bases with wood based walls can be quite taxing on your supplies. If you do some of the harder defences you may end up with a huge repair bill.
Some base locations are nice for a fast travel point in remote areas but I'd almost suggest to just focus on a smaller number.
Unless you are flooded with ammo and building supplies having many isn't worth it IMO. They don't secure the area or provide any support, you're on your own anyway...
Yeah that is what I was kind of noticing, the cost of maintaining even one base and companion armour also, is far to high, as I said earlier I have done 2 medium base attack defence missions, killed them all reasonably quickly " no experimental weapons yet " reward to maintenance cost ratio is way off. I cant understand the Dev's reason for making resources so scarce to the point it is at, you need a balance of fun and longevity, but not just a huge grind trying to find wood, cement etc.
Sometimes I just get tired of the killing, :D and need a reprieve.
WhooHoo!!
Wood? It's easy as to get, just round around the forest for a bit. There's now little trees you can loot for wood. I am throwing it away and don't bother looting the small trees anymore!
