Hope you discovery your noise!
It is not a machine sound, nor is it a normal sound that can be heard elsewhere in the game. It is a very faint blip, as though the game is signaling something. I notice it when it is quiet and I am just sneaking around, as the OP says.
I wonder whether it might indicate crossing a zone border of some kind, or whether something noteworthy comes into range, but I have not been able to associate the beep with anything.
LOL. Perfect.
(I usually notice the teleported machines when I get suddenly blown up. It does not take long to notice that it happened.)
(I kind of like the teleporting machines. Between that and gas and some kinds of ordinance, it means that nowhere is entirely safe. That is as it should be, IMHO.)
I was kind of hoping the beep would mean something important. Like, "there is a schematic nearby" or something. But, yeah, "bug" sounds more likely.
Eventually they start the normal beeping sound.
I thought of making a recording, but it is not a repeatable sound. It would require recording for hours before catching it.
However, I see that Shadowplay has an "instant replay" feature. If that records a moving window of time, then maybe we could catch it with that. I'll give it a try.
Here you go: Weird Blip Sound
I forget which skill does that (Or was that another game?)
