Why the handheld minigun... just why
I get that fighting robots and catching lead with your grandma-issued sweater isn't the most realistic settings of all, but the game still tried to at least pose as somewhat grounded and this IMO helped the limited immersion this game offers - just wandering through a deserted island with nothing, but your bike and your rifle, maybe supported with a realistic rocket launcher against the biggest threats. This still felt rather right.

But then, you decided to add a handheld minigun. Because apparently Swedes must love these things: first PAYDAY 2, then Generation Zero. Maybe it fits slightly better in GZ than PAYDAY 2, but I still think it doesn't belong in a game that was about the guerrila warfare against machines and not about getting all Terminator 2 on their a$$.

The game doesn't force you to play anything.
You can play as if it doesn't exist.

While I don't like some directions the game took since they add NPC and other things, I still think it's a very good thing to add differents weapons/other ♥♥♥♥♥, people can find what they like, or change if they're bored with one.
The game is out since 5 years(let's say 3 as the first 2 were too bugged and without any news from the studio), and they still add things, and give free version of what they add (without counting they added a lot totally for free too).
That said, I just regret they don't balance it.
The portable turrets rocket launcher are totally OP, the minigun seems even more OP compared to anything in the base game.
I never bought any weapon pack, but when I join or get joined by ppl with the turrets, there is no game anymore.

Imo you can still enjoy a challenge if you use the big guns only on problem areas and just play normal the rest of the way? Its like a fail safe. Sure you may lose some self accomplishment from doing it that way BUT it does allow you to at least finish the game even if your not good at this game.

More people may want to play this now because it can be easy.

The Portable Missile Launchers are OP I agree, but I love it. In adventure one can kill a Spetsnaz Firebird and two can kill an Apo Tank. For me as solo player it is a very good support for my engagements. They are Heavy anyway.
Another OP DLC stuff in the game the PM-71 Machine Gun. It drop often (I salvaged dozens Gold one while still I dont have the KVM59 after 388 hour) and I melt down Apo Tanks in seconds. It have huge Damage with very fast attack rate and Recoil can easiely compensated with Attachment and Augment. It made shame all other Machinegun. I use it only in Hard Mode Base Defense.

They ought to offer stuff that is total OP towards vanilla and better than previous DLC weapons. That is how lots of small projects survive.

I don't know if it's a good thing for a studio.
Being too OP in a game is fun at first, but becomes rapidly boring.
The game is already too easy when you get gold/exp stuff on guerilla, but atleast, you have to dodge.
These are a bit like godmode, and when you have nothing else to challenge you anymore, most people leave (that surely explains why god left the earth too).
I personally dislike that kind DLC strategy, but it is management story always.
Company works at the new project. There is old one which still bring some minor money and that is not going to change (game won't become top seller).
Funding new project while assigning as less developers to GZ as possible is asking for milking GZ players with lazy OP DLCs.

As for minigun - it literally erases big robots without need of aiming components. More ammo consumption (not the damage issue, but accuracy), but resources isn't the problem in the late game.

I can confirm that Swedes love their miniguns, how do you think they fight back against the 25006974 mosquitoes in the summer ?
Coffeedevil Jun 25, 2024 @ 12:06pm
I mean just don't buy the dlc then
XDeathxReconX Jun 25, 2024 @ 6:12pm

Geezus....................if it feels wrong to you then don't use it. Stop crying about something you have control over...............don't buy the DLC that has it............... problem solved. If you already have the DLC then just don't use it. Always host the game if you have friends joining you that way nobody can bring one into your game if you disable the DLC.

Shock rounds must be traumatizing.

Yeah there was a massive shift in tone and it went rambo chasing new sales. It's sad :/

I guess it's more make sense if the minigun is a deployable manned turret, combination of both vehicle & companion mechanics.

But ofc, screw game balance, new shotgun at 3c is about 20%~30% more damage than base game 5c pump-shotgun.
(Tested on FNIX wall & shield generator)
