Firebird aggro ?= not in combat?
Northern farmlands. I'm having to sprint between the sparse clusters of buildings. 3 times in a row now, I have been in perpetual combat with 3 different firebirds. I never fired on them (first), never saw them before they opened fire, yet the moment I am in the open, they are already zeroing in on my position.
Strangely enough, even though I am being bombarded in the Avern Lakeside Camp tent, it says I am not in combat, and can fast travel.
TL;DR: These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flier's aggro is stupid

I never had any problem with the aggro of firebirds even if they can see you far away, it's normal with all their detection systems.

If they are already in fight(like in between the two factions), all robots have their systems online, so they can spot you from much farther than when they are just patroling.

You can hack them if you find them too anying. They will farm for you.

I noticed that Lynx tend to spot you realy far when they are fighting.
Firebirds aggro is quite random in my experience. Sometimes they fly above you and cant see even when you standing. Sometimes they spot you from edge of their visual (where you can see them vanish and reapear) even when you crouching.

i recently had no problem with the aggro of single firebirds. but it's very buggy in areas where the two robo factions are fighting. you're basically perpetually in combat. and can only hope they keep busy with each other so you can get away somewhere out of range.

As I said, I don't think it's buggy(maybe it is) because the robots have a wide range of tools (the same you can attach on your weapons) to detect you.
When they just patrol(with white light), their detection systems seem to be off.
When they are suspicious, their lights turn yellow/orange and they are more sensitive.
And when it's red, they load all systems up to prepare fighting, so they easily see you with IR vision, and all other stuff.
The drone robots can ping you, and you'll appear with a red outline for the robots(you can see it when you hack them, they will mark robots for you), etc.

Maybe I'm wrong, and it's just a bug, but I really think they made it working that way.

My problem is when I leave a cave or house, no sounds of combat anywhere, no other bots in sight, and then as soon as there is air over my head, I hear the motors, turn around, and see the bird crest the hill/barn, already redlight pointing at me. There's no awareness arrow, no popup saying I'm in combatr, no music, yet I'm suddenly getting a howitzer or explosive 7.62 in the face
