weapon augment question

Hey all
i just wanted to ask if weapon augments are really worth trying to get, they seem incredibly expensive for what little they do, are they something i should actively try to get or just grab whenever i just so happen to have enough stuff for them? i think 500 weapon parts which i dont even know how many weapons i would have to scrap to get is a tad steep for something i can either just craft ammo that does the same thing or just shoot an enemy a couple more times

500 sounds huge, but you will get there quite quickly. Thanks to the game offering you a lot of rubbish as far as loot is concerned, you have a lot of bad weapons to scrap and it adds up pretty fast.
Some of the augmentations are that strong that an augmented 5 crown weapon can outclass its experimental counterpart. So yes, augmentations are worth it.

A number of damage augments make the gold weapons closer to their experimental versions. For example Unstoppable Shells gives the gold PVG practically the same damage that a PVG exp weapon when shooting bots behind wall if the weapon has the X-ray vision activated,

There are damage augments that do not have a penalty like Unstoppable Shells, Machine Disarmer, Structure Destructor which are good augments despite the costs. But If you have exp weapons, they are still generally stronger even without augments,

Just get Bronze to feel out the augment, then Silver for your favorite.
Gold only gives extra little boost.

They nerfed the exp weapons just before this update came out so the mods will be closer to the exp weapons.
