Which you have played enough to know that...you need to send in a bug report if you have not already.
I then thought for a change I'd carry the 5.56mm LMG, leaving behind my 7.62mm LMG to test the theory that you're more likely to get ammo for the main gun you're carrying. Incredibly I was finding the loot around Boo was now giving me 5.56mm instead of the larger calibre. People often say you're more likely to get loot for the weapon you're carrying, and it was as if one loot spot prioritises your main gun. This seemed to be the case as now 7.62 ammo would be the last ammo found in each loot location... If it appeared at all. A few hours of doing my usual big robot hunting and especially the flying machines and now I have an extra 20000+ rounds of 5.56mm. With enough of it to last for the rest of the game, I put that gun away, go back to my trusty Russian LMG to loot 7.62 rounds again and..... 5.56mm is still being looted as if it was priority one. Bizarre. I can find 7.62 but not like before. I don't know if they've tweaked the loot rate for the ammo, or something has broken, but weird how 5.56mm still shows up before the larger calibre. It's no big deal when a single flying machine or tank drops 800 rounds of a random ammo you can just recycle into one you need though.
*edit* hmm i'm actually finding some 7.62 anyways now.. like 61ammo of a fnixtank and 141 of a militank
lol 600 blue handgun ammo but no .44 ammo for my sidearm and only 100ish 7.62 from a firebird now.
Mili hunters also still gives 7.62.
Guess i'm wrong and the N60 aint affected.
The overall amount seems about the same, but there have been SEEMINGLY some changes in HOW it drops. It seems to appear less often, but is more clustered. Specifically, it appears in larger volumes but less often on, for example, Prototype Hunters. I got many clusters of 60 plus ammo, 90 ammo, and even a couple of 120 ammo. But I got less often these drops, often getting none for 5-6 tries, then large drops like these.
Before this latest hotfix, I was getting 7.62 usually to appear on 3 times as many occurrences, whether on wrecks, kills, but usually in clusters of 5, 30ish, or up to 60, most of the time, especially on Hunters, and also about 3 times more often on Runners. It is less common in the various ammo chests, but again averages in larger clusters with 60 plus happening at least twice as much when it is a cluster.
So for me, 7.62 is basically a wash. When it gets rare, I am getting more .243 ammo as its substitute, more often than it usually substitutes for it. But for .242 the numbers per cluster are averaging smaller. Again, amounts to about the same total over time, for the 4 hours.
This was true in the Farmlands and the Archipelago. True looting placed wrecks and freshly killed wrecks.
So, yes, looting either reset to a new seed, which should not be my explanation because I logged out and restarted 6 times and alternated between 2 characters, after complete exits and restarts of Steam and Gen Zero, and also switching from Offline to Online at least 4 times.
I DID SWITCH weapons in hand whenever I got 4 unlikely in a row on purpose. I also used a Melee Weapon, or a set of Binocs, or a Bow, every time this did not work to seemingly reset my luck. Overall, didn't seem to matter too much, but mostly seemed that now it clusters -- so is less frequent to show up in any wreck or chest, but with larger number per occurrence.
But, mine has never yet been fired, so there *sticks tongue out*, so I might get more on the used PVG90 mark ... who am I kidding.
Hliariously, I also have not ever had even a Blue KVM 59 drop, yet. But, you see, I'm an Independent Resistance Curmudgeon. The IRC is all about "... anything more than .32 Meuller, and you don't even know how to fight. I remember when you had to rub two adrenaline sticks together just to get one piece of plastic and a rubber band. We used the Plastic to store extra blood from our cuts, and the rubber band with any broken bones we had left from our left arm, in order to make a 1 Crown Grey Makeshift Sling in those days. AND WE LIKED IT. So don't tell me ... YADDA, Yadda, yadda."
