New player - apparel bonuses make no sense
On the apparel schematics page I have 1 point in bullet damage reduction for both jackets and pants. The default value for options on this screen is 2.5 percent. With 1 point in something the value goes to 3.75 percent. Since I have 1 pt each in jackets/pants. I should have 7.5 percent on the profile page that also lists clothing. Instead, it says 5 percent, which matches up with the default values of 2.5 percent before you put any points into something. On that same profile page on the pants screen, and the jackets screen, it says 2 percent damage reduction.

So we have values of 2 percent, 2.5 percent, and 3.75 percent. Because the profile page shows my total for bullet damage reduction is 5 percent, I'm clearly not getting the benefit of the 1 pt I put in jackets and pants damage. And where does the 2 percent figure come from?

This is the most convoluted system I think I've ever seen in a video game.

I think the 2.5 is what you get for lv1 schematic, and the 3.75 is what it's showing for "and this is what you'll get at lv2". 2 seems to be what I find on random clothing in loot. (I've just started playing, too, so I'm no expert.)

I thought so too but on the apparel schematics screen it shows what you get with the next point and it says 5 percent.

I spent hours testing this out before it was completely changed in august.

At an apparel crafting bench:
For EACH type of apparel resist (blast resist, bullet resist, etc) you will require 5 levels of schematic for that type. That is 1,2,3,4 and 5 crown schematics. This gives a MAX of 10% resist at L5 - 5 crown (gold) Schem.
At least now you don't need to sort them to find what you need to complete your max resists.

In you Profiles tab (map, inv, skills, etc) the clothing bonuses is in the right side of the screen. As you click through you crafted apparel (of the 4 main types, jacket, shirt, pants and boots) you will see how your apparel enhancements stack. As you can get a max of 10% resist in each damage class you can get a max of 4x10% for your whole outfit.

Ignore the 2% (or whatever) an apparel item claims to have as standard. That'll get soaked up in your crafting assembly.

The newest incarnation of schems is to 'earn' schem points as you down robots. TBH as I have all the apparel schems I cannot tell you how this system works although on the face of it it looks like you can 'buy' into the schems you specifically want.
