Side Mission: Old Bettan - Where is the key?

Its been a while since I played the game and it seems there has been a few changes since. Where can I find the key to the Bell Tower in Iboholmen Church? In every tip I find online - it seems they are all outdated - it tells me to check under the doormat in the side room of the altar. But I can not interact with this doormat - so no key for me. Where is the key now?

move close to the door leading to the tower to active the mission and then go to the smaller room by the sideentrance.

Oh wow - that was the mistake. Well I was directly in front of the door - I even pressed E on it but I did not get the mission. Hey Developers don't you think this trigger is a bit to small?

I cant pick the key up.. it glows yellow but wont bring up "E" for me to collect it. anyone else?

No "E" prompt happens. Try approaching from different angles, or open the storage station and other nearby containers and try getting the key again. If that still does not work, ignore it in the meantime and just continue playing and get back to it later.

I think it's just been fixed. On my last (aborted) playthrough, it was broken, refused to be triggered. Today I deleted all saved characters / worlds and started a new game, and after I gave that girl a first aid kit, it worked; I had to stand near the left side of the door, pointing around that area [on PC], and it worked.
