Body armour

I've noticed that some of the clothing items give you resistance against fire or bullets etc.

But so far the actual amount of damage reduction is TINY based on how long the bar indicating the effect is.

Are there any clothing items which add significant protection?

I found a military helmet but it seemingly doesn't count as armour at all, despite the fact that apparently a T-shirt could.

nope. there is no real armor. just the clothes

Do any of the clothes have worthwhile protective values? I can't understand why they would implement resistances if the clothing provides such a tiny amount that it essentially does nothing.

They used to do something, then it was taken out. It might come back later. Who knows. Right now though, all clothing is just cosmetic.
